A common smog pump might work as a blower.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: what size cooling tank

I think the answer to your question has to do in part with how hard the engine will be working at the show. It would add interest to go on the small side so steam would rise from the tank.

I have a 3M body shutz gun for spraying fender wells with undercoat. This spray gun has a 3' (one meter for you metric folks) flexible plastic sprayer extension with sprayers all around the tip. I used this extension and a can of 3M rust preventative to spray all the interior compartments of my '74 IH Scout in 2001. This has completely stopped all the rust, well in those areas anyway.

The unsolved problem of hydrogen embrittlement makes it a non-starter for me. There is a fellow with an early 60's Ford falcon ranchero that runs on hydrogen. He used LP components. A full Tank is good 23 miles.

"How to run a lathe.  January 1928"

Love it! Thank you for the link! I love old books like that and I'm sure everything in it is just as relevant today as it were back then.
I have emailed the PDF to the Mrs at work so she can print it out on her fancy Collating Photcopier and tonight I should have a nice book of it.
I have a binder myself  so I'll put it together and have it for ongoing reference.

Thanks again. Score of the day!

Since I have a 1927 South Bend lathe this guide is perfect. I've actually done a bit of production work on it lately. Been using a M2 turret adapter in the tail stock. Lots of sharp things to impale ones self with there.

So is that a gold bar there next to the silver one?

About 3/4 of the time, just the left handed drills will do the trick for me. Snap On makes a really nice set of lh drills and extractors. And if it doesn't tap to the old thread (unlikely, but possible) just helicoil it. If the studs are that bad, use the cylinder for a guide and transfer punch the centers of the studs. Do the drilling in a drill press if you have access to one.

If this little engine was mine, I'd cut the studs off about 1/4" above the deck. Then grind the ends flat and center punch them. Then drill the studs with a left hand drill. The heat and reduction in size will frequently back out the threads. Then if that is not successful try an easy-out. And then if that's not successful, then drill to the correct size and retap the holes. The grinding flat and a center punch in the center of the stud is the key to this working.

When blending we also need to recognize that RUG and ULP are blended different for region and season. Vegie's summer blend RUG may not boil at 190F. I'm still sitting on 110 gal of hydrogenated soybean oil that is a thick glop at room temp. I might try drying some and seeing if it clears up.

575 is an unusual voltage, can it be reconnected for 240 or 480v? That would allow the rectified DC to go straight into the charge controller, assuming it's a 600v model.

Hello John, A Listeroid also powers and heats our off-grid home in Northern California. One thing you might try is using an inexpensive 3 Ph motor for a generator. Since the charge controller is rather flexible about input voltage, these seem like they might be ideal. That was my plan to replace an ST5, but I was given a balancing transformer that solved about 98% on the issues I was dealing with.

We have a concrete floor with a hydronic loop and the generator shed is right next to the house.

When my Listeroid was on skids, tethering it with rope or cable would keep it from wandering away.

I'd really like to see some pictures of that! To do that here you'll need to host them somewhere and link them to from here.
