« on: August 18, 2023, 06:17:27 PM »
Please throw your opinions here, of what a brand new Metro 6/1 (partly apart) would possibly be worth today......?
Looks unmolested and preserved well. Light weight spoke flywheels
TIA

General Discussion / 4 days in ICU
« on: November 24, 2022, 11:09:45 PM »

A heart attack does not always come as pain in your left arm. Mine was between my shoulders in my back. Last Thursday 11/17 After some time of denial, and increasing discomfort, I decided it was time to go to Urgent Care (they were closing and getting ready to lock the front doors) where they hooked up the wires and saw problems on the Electrocardiogram. An ambulance ride and 45 minutes later, I was at the hospital, in the Cath lab getting 2 stents installed (one artery 100% blocked) in an expedited fashion. Then 3 more stents installed yesterday, (another artery 90% blocked) 4 days in ICU total. Funny thing, that Thursday morning I was in the middle of no where picking up a cement mixer from Marketplace. I worked pretty hard getting it on the trailer and was worn out from using the come-along. Shortly after I got home with it, the discomfort started. Discomfort NOT pain. Pressure. Uncomfortable feeling, not pain. So very lucky it happened here at home. Doing much better now. One of the doctors said, 'With heart issues "Heart Attack pain" means any pain from your navel to your head, not just sharp pain in your left arm".

My message is, do not ignore it or brush it off.

Besides 'too fast'.....can anyone guess what RPM this unlucky engine achieves?

Listeroid Engines / Forges DeGuilly....Horizontal Boring Machine

Well, seven years later.....and some effort to un-bury the machine from 'storage table' duty, the FDG is powered up and running. Incentive job was drilling and tapping the end of the crankshaft on a Wis-con V4.....
Heidenhain DRO install is next.....not sure when.....but next. Along with some other general maintenance and adjustments.

Changfa Engines / Chang-chai and ST head, deal? Or no deal?
« on: October 27, 2021, 11:13:01 PM »

It ain't pretty...
Found this, seller was asking $600 said he'd take $550. I saw it run, started right up with the electric starter.
He knows nothing about the ST head, wires are disconnected. Data tag is unreadable except for 2000 which may
be the year built. Is there a stamped model/ serial number someplace?

Worth the money?

In this longer video, the refurbishment Lab can be seen in action. (Note specially cushioned sand lined floors in the 'clean room')

Listeroid Engines / 6/1-8/1 650 VS 850 RPM and Iron VS Alu. pistons
« on: October 26, 2020, 03:55:22 PM »

I've seen the warnings "do not exceed 650 RPM with a cast iron piston", or "if you're intending to run 850 rpm, better have an aluminum piston fitted"....etc.
Could someone please explain this requirement in detail?

Anyone on this forum running their Lister-or-roid on the west coast due to power outage?
I suspect if they were, they'd have already posted here

Indian 'craftsman' working on a 6/1
This one's special, several 'tool tricks' shown in the video as well.

OK, I skipped along thru the horror movie. I see now what this really is. It's a motivational video for all newbies that might be afraid of doing something terribly wrong to their engines. If THESE guys can take one apart, and have it running at the end of the movie, ANY one can do better than this, and expect better results.
