Lister Based Generators / Re: ST3 leaking "small" amount of oil
« on: August 25, 2008, 03:37:34 PM »
Agree with those who say if it doesn't leak much, ignore it and wipe up afterwards. Rocker covers can be removed and re-gasketed, but almost any other leak requires
head removal, so unless you plan a de-coke and valve grind, don't bother. the D shaped O rings between head and pushrod case usually harden and need genuine
replacements,so don't disturb without cause. Have recently rebuilt an ST3, and the cost of the gasket set alone would buy a lot of oil!

Lister Based Generators / Re: Stanford generator terminal wiring
« on: August 21, 2008, 01:40:51 PM »
Cummins now own Stamford-Newage, Markon etc. so if you search Cummins Generator Technologies website there is much good info.Under their Stamford link, select "downloads" Find Ratings Book - and in the first pages there is a series of winding configuration diagrams. You may find that your wiring lugs have ID numbers stamped on
them. From the number of wires and your existing connections you may be able to identify your setup. There is more good info in a section under "Faultfinding" and in
manuals listed for individual machine models. Hope this helps.
