A carding brush and muriatic acid helps a lot on old files.

52 years ago tomorrow I was on my honey moon near Shaver lake California at her cousins cabin. under the eves were 1 pint mason canning jars upside down glued to the underside of the roof. The bottom metal screw on cap had a shot gun shell punched through it, the shot removed. I asked later what? they were filled with Borate and or baking soda. The 99 year lease from the forest service was expiring and they told the owners no renewal and no fire support any more. later a land trade was made and a volenteer fire Dept formed. they would not cover homes with the bombs installed. with the plastic bottles available now they could work even better with reduced risk to fire fighters. I was told a house fire starts under the Eves in a clockwise swirl, the bombs go off and the structure has another chance all be it slim. Maybe south of the equator the swirl goes counter clockwise? We have smoke from Canada BC and Olympics and Cascades, but nothing close. Wishing you all the best

you do not need a manual. Go to the WOK pages drill to 38AC and you will have far better info than the original manual.

have fun and good luck.

I would say not, with only 4 wires.

To me it looks like a 2 pole alternator 4 wire can be wired in series or parallel to achieve 240 volt or  and 120 volt and 120 volt only with lots of amps. the cap could mean brushless, look for diodes mounted on rotor. with only four leads no way a starter generator.

Some thing else to consider is the Vanadium flow batteries coming on line. Invented or made somewhat practical in OZ by a college student She developed a battery that stores the energy in the electrolyte and its capacity is determined by the amount of electrolyte one can store. They are practical so far only for stationary applications as large amounts of electrolyte are required. Several versions of electrolyte work including common sulfuric acid types. Many company's working on it, 1 in my neck of the woods, UNI Energy Technologys of Mulkilteo WA. USA.
There are several prototypes over 1 megawatts in operation.

As before I saved some bandwidth by not documentin the tear down. We are now at the point of beginning. Beside the normal cleaning we have some modifications to preform. As shipped there is no way to check the oil level or add oil except by removing  the crankcase cover. We will be addressing that during  block prep.

looking at the block pic my metro 12/2 center crank bearing supported by bolts from the top, yours from the block casting from the base? any comments?
