Portland was all mud this year, same as the last 15 out of 20 years. but well worth the trip.saw many old friends and a lot of engines and parts.. ended up buying a small wheel horse tractor,1960 version called a ball burner.. it lives up to it.s name,,,spent part of the day with 38ac and saw his petter engine..what a find// probably never see one like that agin.thinking about going back for the august show,,,with gas close to $4.oo a gallon, it is almost cheaper to fly to europe but I like the show better/sid

may 18 is the start for the engine and tractor swap meet this year...more old engine ,tractor and parts than any other swap meet..but very few listers etc. saw 2 last year and in very poor shape, but it is always different and for me it is worth the trip,, I usually combine it with a stop at the Wright patterson air museum in Dayton Ohio///this late  date, motels will be a little hard to find.. usually you have to go 40-50 mile to find one...if any one shows up. email mail me and we will have lunch//sid

dr.death,,, glad you are making progress. it seems that this is a common problem with couples in their 50--60 years......I never understood what was happening when you would hear about a perfect couple that went their seperate ways after so many years together..10 years ago I woke up one morning and found out I was the biggest s.o.b in the world and my wife wanted me gone,,we had never had a serious argument in 30 years,,,after months of counsling therapy etc I found out....why are you here...every thing seemed normal....you do not have the problem...it seemed the dr, had given my wife a double douse of depaveria?///it made her crazy and when i question the dr, the idiot gave her another one. they were long lasting.3 months for each....it took several years for everything to get back to normal////////now everthing is almost back to normal but the pain is still deep inside/// just got back suday night after 11 days in Berlin and my wife cried for almost an hour because she was so glad I was back. so there is a future,,///dr.death I will see you in portland in 6-7 weeks////you have my #///sid

if you are looking for a cheap magnet free most of the time.. an old microve wave oven has 2 very good one around the mag. tube..I have saved dozens over the years...always have one in the tool box/// easy to find, every thing is stuck to it...the only warning is to discharge the high voltage cap. first.. if you do not.. well have fun///sid

General Discussion / delima solved
« on: December 23, 2010, 10:50:18 PM »
I appreciate all the input about accepting an engine as a gift from my old friend,,,,,after much discussion with him I accepted a 1 1/2 hp hit and miss Satley engine,1924, not the best runner but the reason I picked that one is the history can be traced back to the woman that purchased it in 1924 to pump water for her chickens...so I will be the 3 rd owner. I am going to get a sign or plaque made to go with the engine so the history will stay with the engine..it is unusual to be able to trace the history back that far and for him to meet the orignal owner.. we both ended the day happy//sid

General Discussion / a sad delima
« on: December 20, 2010, 03:46:10 PM »
my 88 year old friend is still in good health but he knows his day is coming very soon..like he says .. how much longer can a person expect to l ive and have a good life...on saturday I stopped by his house to drop off a christmas gift...it only took a minute and I knew he had something to tell me.... he has decided to give most of his engines away and wants me to have first pick.... he knows his family will not have a use for them or know what to do with them.. they will either end up as scrap or junked..so the delima i have is do I pick an engine or what. after thinking about it for several days I still do not have a solution...he has about 50 engines and most are of med, value except 4 or 5/// he has only put 2 engines off the list that he wants to keep/// he has a lot of hit and miss and throtle gov. engines, iron horses.etc/ he has only one lister, a 3 or4 hp square hopped gas version. i do not know the model but it is a good running engine, the more I think about it , I do not want to make a decision...I do not know what to do...sid
