Agree with you Stan

My unit sits and waits.  When the time comes, I manually start it, flick a few switches and I have light again.   I thought about electric start... but the handle works so well.

I thought about gauges and computer fuel controls ect... but a plastic transparent fuel tank lets me know at a glance Im low on fuel, the tape stuck to the side shows me from full how many of hours of run time I have based on past runs, and my black market lets me jot new information right on the fuel tank.

I am going to upgrade my radiator this summer... in my old house it was close to the door and I could open it on hot days to cool it off.  My current rad came out of a Dodge Caravan.  My next will be bigger and out of a truck.  In my present location at the back of the garage... it gets a bit hot in the summer and I need to have additional fans to cool off the small rad.

that said these engines are KISS and reliable, and do the job asked of them.  Im happy knowing she always starts

Lister Based Generators / Re: Newbie - What to do? 5kW or 9kW or ???
« on: September 03, 2011, 12:16:46 PM »
I have a 10/1 and a 5KW head.  When the power goes I  can live normally.  I have a a Propane stove, clothes dryer and fireplace.  I use Oil heat for my boiler.    My Listeroid powers the house very well and without a lot of fuss... do need to keep a lot of air moving over it, it heats up a lot, but thats good... diesels like to run hot.  My fix is a fan blowing through my radiator... might end up putting in a larger rad, the one out off the caravan seems to heat up very quickly.

My last house had more electric stuff and I had to do the human load balance act... now I just start it up and live a normal life.   My Listeroid works every time, and has provided us hours of enjoyment.  Best investment I ever made.

Major electrical storm came through this afternoon, 33.9C to 22C in less than 15 minutes... WOW the lightning and the wind... and here i type 8 hours later and Im still on betsy power... power not back on till 0400...

So, it would appear that I can get nearly 24 hours of power out of 20 L of fuel... and I have
2 fridges,
1 freezer
two sump pumps
Bioler
Air exchange/AC unit
plus lights and stuff... about 3500 W of load

Wife has completely forgotten about the money I spent on the Listeroid.

Amarbir[India] I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and explain away your posts here as being culturally based.  But only this once.

This is an international forum, but the largest number of posters come from North America and the EU, and as such we do not like people bashing their competition.  Maybe you and Anand / Patel did not hit it off on a personal level.. maybe he did not want to help out a possible competitor.  But his actions with members here show that he has been more than fair and personal and he does not deserve to be ridiculed on this public forum.

I was thinking of doing this earlier, but I saw the supportive posts from the members and I left it open to allow Anand / Patel, reputation be publicly acknowledged by the membership to counteract the bad things you posted.

this is your last warning.  Trash, ridicule or put down someone else on this forum and you will be banned.  Thats our cultural way of dealing with problems... we make them go away.

High winds have caused power outages.  We have been running on Betsy for 2 hours.

Temp outside 24C
Temp in to my former Dodge Caravan Rad is 80C
Tem out of the rad with a small fan running is 46C

Im using my AC, two fridges and a Freezer on... and the TV's.

I have about 3KW on the Listeroid... 10/1 with a 7 KW head

No flicker, and not using a lot of fuel

72
You know I could never understand why the Brits did not use antifreeze... my Listeroid sits in -30C awaiting its call to duty, with no freezing issues.

73
Glad to see its EMP resistant... just in case the Russians or Chinese get any ideas  :D :D :D

Mike
God gave us all the tools to command all on the dominion of earth.  The power for success or failure is his gift and it is within you.  Sort out with your wife if there is any hope to reconcile.  if there is work with her to address what she needs changed.  if you can live with that, suck it up make the changes and move on.

moving fwd make time for her, date her, shower her with praise, and listen too her

Just my $0.02 cents.

BTW pick a therapist for you first, work out from there
I may have missed something, but what was her reason for ending it?  your obsessiveness  on engines?  that can be fixed
