Lister Market Place (things for Sale) / Hello all
« on: February 17, 2021, 08:43:11 AM »
Hello all! Dieselgman here. I apologize for my long absence on this (and other sites). Health issues plus advancing in age put me out of service for awhile.

A little public service announcement if permitted:

Seeing what mother nature has just thrown at Texas and the US Midwest in general gave me the inspiration to get back into action here because we have a strong resource available that people are needing now.

A little re-introduction for those that don't know... my company has been in the Lister generator business for several decades now and we purchased the remainder of Lister/Petter Americas operation when they went out of business.

We have in stock hundreds of the legacy Lister/Petter engines and generators... this includes the antique CS types plus the modern military Alphas and Onan branded Listers and all the in-between models. We also sell and service all Lister/Petter engines and generators backed with a multi-million dollar parts inventory second to none in the world.

I will try to keep up with your queries and as always, will be quick to respond to any parts requests or servicing needs and advice.

Stay safe, stay warm, stay calm and crank up the Lister. Best Regards, dieselgman.

What? don't have your Lister yet?  I suppose we should get to work on that! Of note here, my older published dieselgen email address is no longer available... we are using gsj@gci.net for current communications.

Many of you know me from years of activity on this forum and elsewhere. An avalanche of changes are happening in my life that will force some changes here in my Continental US operations. Health, Financial issues with the government, advancing Age - they are fast on my heels now. I need some proactive changes to happen.

I am a Lister/Petter distributor and an active remanufacturing operation in Kansas... also have the remaining Lister/Petter Americas operation under my roof. We have huge parts stocks from a half a dozen other distributors across North America who have almost all now liquidated. We have large stocks of LP original and Indian clone diesels... considerable resources from LPW Alpha water-cooled and air-cooled series. We service Ditchwitch, Reed, Moffet, New Holland, Cummins Onan, and all makers that use the Lister/Petter engines. Large generator and supporting hardware stocks...

I have spent 24 years amassing this resource, I believe it is the largest remaining stockpile anywhere. $2.5m in new parts alone. Something in the neighborhood of 200+ engines here... many of them are the very last examples of brand new in-the-crate British iron.

If someone had an interest in carrying this effort forward, it would present a unique opportunity. I am available to train (up to 2-years if needed), we have a few people here already trained that could stay on and continue the rebuild operations and parts supply services.

We have a tax burden to resolve, but for the most part are solvent and flexible and amenable to creative ideas.

So, talk to me... even if you simply want an engine or two, we are ready to deal and to move some iron. gary@dieselgen.com

General Discussion / Happy New Year!
« on: December 29, 2016, 08:02:01 PM »
My best wishes to all for a happy and prosperous new year!

Thanks for all of your inputs and interactions on this forum!

I have enjoyed and learned a lot from the collective knowledge here and am looking forward to a brand new year of supporting Lister/Petter equipment and folks like you, with equipment in operation, or projects in progress, or just gathering the knowledge to be able to be more self-sufficient in the future.

2016 was a very active year for us in the business... 2017 will bring many new opportunities, I am very happy with our progress!

Lister Market Place (things for Sale) / Lister 12volt intake heaters.
« on: November 26, 2016, 02:32:46 AM »
I have been cleaning up old stocks here... and we have a large surplus of slightly used inlet preheaters (heater plugs) that are presently just going to waste. These are 12 volt military take-offs that are basically unused although maybe blemished and dirty from original installation. These are the heavy-duty versions. We have already discarded anything that had any signs of wear and tear so they are guaranteed good. These could be used for your projects with just about any type of engine that needed a little cold-weather starting assist. All you need is a 12 volt battery and a little simple wiring to make these work.

Lister has them priced at $100 a copy... I will give them away for a simple handling fee of $10 plus post. Large quantity available.
You may message me on this board or preferable email to gary@dieselgen.com

The picture below is of an identical brand new unit for clarity of identification. Part number 363102, 186-6264, 11-720-209 etc..

Screw body is isolated from the electrical circuit!

Lister Market Place (things for Sale) / Lister/Petter manuals on offer
« on: October 19, 2016, 04:38:33 AM »
I have now managed to organize and catalog our Lister/Petter library and it is likely the largest in the world at this point.

We have over 3,000 books and manuals on our shelves published by Lister and by Petter over the years. I think we have pretty exhaustive coverage of all models they either built themselves or bought out from other manufacturers. There are plenty of them with numerous original copies available - total around 500 unique titles covering Instructions, Parts, and Workshop Manuals. We also have an exhaustive collection of their sales and marketing materials, much of it going back into the early days. It is a very interesting history.

I have been collecting these on a piece-by-piece basis for decades, and recently purchased all the remaining materials from Lister/Petter Americas. That involved crates by the truckload.

So, what was a small hobby now must become something larger... eventually we would like to operate a diesel/generator school on our premises but in the meantime can make these specialized manuals available to those who want them. Even if we only have a single copy, we can still make them available by having them digitized on an as-needed basis.

General Discussion / Witte/Lister Hybrid?
« on: October 25, 2015, 01:54:18 AM »
Does anyone know some details about what was done with Witte Engine Corp. when Lister/Petter America bought them out? I was once told that Witte (based in Kansas City), had an engine foundry somewhere in Oklahoma (maybe actually Arrow Engine) and that when they shut down, their molds and plans were all sent overseas. I have never found much additional detail about that except that Arrow is currently using one of their old designs re-branded as an Ajax (or Gemini?). Now that Lister/Petter is shut down here, we have been going through some of their old archives and noted that they had retained the old Witte design and engineering microfilms as well as a few scattered records. Trying to fill in the blanks here.

I have found some very interesting pictures of a couple prototypes (one a packaged genset and another a skidded power unit) that appear with a Lister/Witte logo and the engines themselves appear to be all Witte. They might be a unique hybrid or just re-branded, not certain about that. I just bet there is some history and intrigue involved with these... maybe never meant to see the light of day.

The Lister/Petter Americas attic has proven to be a very interesting place. They did not throw anything away as far as I can discern.

Everything else / Witte technical library on microfilm
« on: October 12, 2015, 03:44:35 AM »
I have in my possession a significant volume (26 very long reels) of original microfilmed documents from Witte Engine Corp. - Kansas City. All microfilm dated January 3, 1968.
Included are 13 long 35mm reels of engineering drawings, service drawings, A B C and D current drawings.
Also included 10 long reels on 16mm covering parts, bills of materials, specifications, group numbers, engine models etc..
This appears to be some very significant coverage of the Witte technical history as it existed prior to January 1968.

I am aware that this material can be converted to digital or printed directly from the microfilm reels.

Any interested parties or suggestions?

General Discussion / Lister Engine Gallery problems?
« on: September 28, 2015, 10:56:51 PM »
Has anyone looked into fixing whatever is wrong with the listerenginegallery setup?

I really do not relish the thought of moving and re-linking a mess of pictures like that... probably far too much of a task to consider right now.
As it stands, I do not see any access there and cannot proceed with normal image posting without some sort of resolution.

Other Fuels / Lister 20kW prototype with Vulcan gasifier - Wood Fuel!
« on: July 10, 2015, 01:42:45 AM »
Here is a video of one of our 20kW Lister HRG3 plants running in a customized Vulcan wood gasifier setup. No real operational documentation has been provided so far, but this unit is going into a production environment in Hawaii... hopefully a good start for repurposing many of these oilfield engines.

Hi all! Does anyone have a Listeroid setup operating anywhere near Traverse City, Michigan?

We have a fellow trying to decide on building a system and would really like to take a look at an operating setup.

Any information greatly appreciated!

Listeroid Engines / 8/1 build by Dan S.
« on: August 29, 2014, 04:50:55 AM »
Sort of dull around here of late... thought this might interest the members. A nice looking 8/1 build by Dan S. up in Michigan.

Nice paintjob and sturdy wooden frame

He says this one is a smooth runner - no hopping around even on the wheeled carts!
