Listeroid Engines / found a 6-1
« on: October 12, 2021, 03:59:04 PM »
The brand is Anil and it was made by G.G Automotive gears LTD in 12-1999. it has a compression adjust valve and grease cap rocker shaft and 4 bolt head. Its has the wrong governor spring and runs too slow at maybe 300-400 RPM. It does not hop excessively when I speed it up. I assume it was never used for work but in shows. It is 20 miles from home and the owner got it a year ago from a farmer and wants $2500 for it. Anyone know anything about the brand?  Thanks for any input.

I report the 6-1 is now running reliably without nozzle issues however has low compression and needs the glowplug to start. During the warm up period antifreeze will seep up around the studs on the intake and exhaust side of the head and when fully up to temperature of 200 the seepage stops and the engine runs steady with much less diesel "knock" than previously and with less power and more smoke. I want to find some head and base gaskets before I take it apart to inspect for broken or stuck rings that I do have spares for. I would consider an entire top end of the 5 stud style for spare parts and swap out my old set to fix the problem it seems I have in that the liner protrudes too far off the deck. Being that the engine is so far from home this option would be my preferred plan. I welcome any advice on where to get parts or what to do next.

I think my starting issues are over now with a new nozzle that actually sprays a mist not a stream. I tried everything imaginable to try to start it with the old nozzle and got it to start by heating the nozzle on the injector with a mapp gas torch. Got it very hot over several minutes and then quickly installed it and connected the line and it started. However it ran rough and there was a lot of smoke out the exhaust and at ran out of fuel in the middle of the night.

Thanks for the replies and i did order and get the compression changeover valve however I stopped trying to install it because I thought it would crossthread and put back in the standard plug with a glowplug. I hadnt used the glowplug in years. I sometimes arrive at camp in minus 10 by snowmobile and have to get the 6-1 running. I use a honda 1000 watt for lights and to run grundfos circulators on a wood fired boiler. The engine cooling system is a flatplate heat exchanger connected to this boiler and with another circulator on the engine side I preheat the engine to about 120 degrees so it cranks easy then would just use a hot nail in the intake pipe to start.  I previously tried to reach central Maine but they were moving.

Looks like coolant to me. I had a 400 pontiac in a jet boat do that from an intake manifold leak but was a little more white color than that. Mine was contaminated by lake water the boat uses for cooling.

Mine seems to hold about 5 quarts to submerge the dipper about 1/2". a 6-1 powersolutions jkson.

The nozzle I replaced and now it starts easily despite what I thought was too low of compression. I may just seem to be when it wont start. I still need to locate head gasket spares that do not have extra holes between the main 2.  Engine is a powersolutions -jkson 2005 model 6-1. I had a lot of difficulty in getting coolant to circulate as in airlocked but got it eventually and now it transfers heat.

Thank you I will try Gary. I do think the valves are ok, broken ring is possible and I didn't check for that. the location is northern Michigan.

Hello all I overheated my 6-1 and used my spare head gasket. I seem to have damaged the fuel nozzle as it squirts a stream now. I also see much less compression probably from a thicker head gasket. I am looking to buy a few nozzles, some head gaskets and an adjustable decompression valve to raise compression for starting. I cant seem to find parts anywhere. Does anyone know how to get parts? Thank you

Thank you Gary for the parts that arrived in good shape and exactly what I had pictured and I am amazed to have parts in hand before paying for them. Im happy for the whole listeroid hobby community. This rocker I want to live longer than the original from improved lubrication but unsure how. Thinking grease would be better than what I was doing before, dripping a mixture of eos assembly lube with added graphite.

Hello I am wondering if anyone knows where to find the whole rocker arm assembly. the mounting block, shaft and rocker arms and replacement bushings. My rocker arms are quite sloppy on the shafts and the shafts themselves wiggle easily enough even though all nuts and bolts are tight. Engine is a powersolutions 6-1 made in 2005. thank you.

Thanks for replies! I seem to remember this brand to have 2 additional smaller studs and nuts on each head when I compared it to the powersolutions one. I am in northern lower Michigan and don't need parts yet. I got this and a 10kw st head for $1000 about 5 years ago and I found it on this website. It was used to power a house and the seller said he burned 17 gallons of wvo per day for 6 months and the house burned down and I got it as is. I found one cylinder severely carboned up and after cleaning it and a crank handle to start it from Eric Lyons I could not get it to run. I got 2 new fuel pumps and injectors from Mr Norvold and this got it running and I haven't had time to work on the generator project but want to make progress this winter.

The engine and St head took a lot of external cleaning and the engine seems well balanced but the St head is badly gunked up with the wvo grease. I assume there was a open container of the wvo and it was heated somehow and the vapors drawn in the alternator head by the fan condensed there and its a sticky grease that I cant seem to dissolve with any product. The copper wires are completely saturated by this sticky mess. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to clean it out? I was thinking only a steam cleaner or hot water will do it but I don't want to ruin the insulation on the wires. I am eager to assemble this all into a skid mounted generator set and appreciate any advice.

I was looking into the current state of this brand as I have the 12-2 and found this. I found it amusing but hope mine don't "blast in to many pieces" like this. I have only replaced some parts to get it running but it seems to be a good one. The 6-1 powersolutions generator I built for my remote camp has proven to be a great choice. It powers the refrigerator and pumps as well as provides domestic hot water and heats the cabin on 4 gallons a day running nonstop while I'm there. The sound it makes is so cool. I remember a friend brought a buddy over on snowmobiles and when he saw my camp and took off his helmet and heard that listeroid he had a curious look on his face then busted out laughing. I'm pretty sure no other generator would have caused that reaction.
