Generators / footprint of St5 versus indian 4kva head
« on: January 17, 2009, 01:17:58 PM »
I am soon going to be changing from my dead indian 4 kva head to an St5 and wondered if anyone knows if the base bolt patterns are interchangable? I am hoping not to have to change the mounting right now.

« on: January 07, 2009, 10:42:22 PM »
i am going to replace the rectifier but would like to try flashing my dead genhead first since the rectifier showed no signs of being bad externally, can someone explain step by step how it's done?

I live in Swanzey,NH I am not really sure how to test things and what I should be seeing when I do test them, I was going to do some random testing this afternoon but the Dmm's battery died:(

I reattached them going by the pic but still no go, I either burned out the attached rectifier or worse, I have been looking on ebay and saw thst one just will need a decent pulley to go with it, any ideas were to get one for less than an arm and leg?

Generators / help with an Indian 4kva gen head
« on: December 28, 2008, 06:59:16 PM »
I had recent problems with the indian genhead, first it stopped putting out power on one leg, i traced it to the pictured board and found and repaired a disconnected wire, today same problems again but this time no power, upon removing the cover I found the wires diconnected and at this point I can't tell what goes where, can anyone either tell me where things go or remove and shoot some pics for me, here is the pic of the board.

The flex's were recommended by a friend, he uses them alot on high wear flex areas were the mesh doesn't hold up and they are stainless as well, I already have a T-stat installed in the head as per utterpower CD and yes those are circulator flanges, very close just needed a little coaxing with the dremmel to fit:)

I agree on the hose, it's the best I could get at the moment, I will get some heater rated hose when I install the radiator, as far as the exhaust being close to the roof I measured temps after running for 4 hrs yesterday and max was 190F so it should be ok for now.

The spring loaded ball and cup allows plenty of movement while being very solidly mounted above, the radiator is actually about 5-6'' away from the wall and the fan pulls rather than pushes, seems to keep plenty cool, I actaully just got a cast iron unit and will be installing that soon, perhaps run coolant lines into my unheated garage on the other side of the wall. The oval muffler does have a small drain but perhaps another lower in the system is call for.

I do not believe glyceron will atomize properly, it will also have some residual methonal from the process which might adversly affect things, if anyone is willing to try it i would gladly supply the glyceron:)

I meant 6x6's sorry ;D but figured that way it could have some movement and still give me the option of bolting solid to the frame if I chose to do so.
