I Appriciate the dock bumpers. I assembled a couple of 6/1's for mobile operations. I also noticed it looks like you have a 3 point base. I learned if you use 4 points you never have the same load on each mount and they tend to move until it finds equal load on all 4 points. A 3 legged stool doesn't rock! I'll do that next time.t

General Discussion / Re: Any experience with Mini excavators?
« on: November 04, 2018, 06:08:53 PM »
The digging force is relative to the weight of the machine. The lightweight one won't do much more bolted to a heavy machine. The hydrolic system is rated for the design. I had a 3 point type mounted to a 43hp Kubota. The pump attached to the pto. It was weak but like it was said beat the heck out of a shovel! You could take it off and use the tractor for other things.

After owning tractors with a backhoe I found the backhoe to be a specialty item. Ditches! The backhoe you showed is lightweight for sure and would work to death on a stump or rocks. Digging or plowing is all about equipment weight. I am an equipment lover but that is a piece that will just serve one purpose. I will go rent one fit to the job dig all and future ditches and be done with it. Renting a good one for the size of the job will be fun and much cheaper. It will also do it in a fraction of the time. Of course that is me and renting can have it's adventures.

I have used heat. Just heat, and heat then squirt some pentrating oil on the subject while it is cooling.  Theory is it draws the oil deeper in the joint. Heating and cooling cycles help. I have memories of nothing worked! Good luck!

Thanks Bob I do have a smaller American Rotary I used on a smaller machine.  I've had the same experience. I'll probably follow the same manufacturer.

Thanks for the replies, The CNC has several motors, Coolant pump, main spindle, and 3 servos for each axis. I also should have mentioned I wish to be able to use on other 3 phase equipment.

Everything else / 3 phase from single phase

Is anybody out there converting on grid 220 volt single phase to 220 volt 3 phase? I'm needing to run a CNC 15hp 40 amps max. Not interested in building one just lookin for a good product that will give me stable 3 phase. The digital solid state ones seem to be priced up there. I also learned you need to upsize the converter about double to get good results. I have supplied a circuit with 100amps 220v to run whatever I go with. Rotary seems to be my $$$$ route. Looking for a been there done that reply that will keep me out of some of the potholes!

Are these real Listers?

As shipped there is no way to check the oil level or add oil except by removing  the crankcase cover. We will be addressing that during  block prep.
I'm curious of your approach on this improvement. I will be doing the same on a 6/1. They need it!

Queen does your thermostat have a small 3/16" hole in it? The small hole will help with the gulping and eliminates the hot cold opening closing of the thermostat. The hole serves the same purpose as your flow control valve. The thermostat will open fully if needed. The valve could bite you. If the thermostat is full open but can only flow the restricted  valve setting it could get hot eventuality.

Bruce..Are they from a Lister 6/1 going on Listeroid? If so I bet it will be minor tuning.

Most couplings life is dependent on alignment, and material quality. They are great because they work for awhile when not aligned. I would spend some time get it aligned the best you can then maybe use some hard plastic tubing or rubber. Cut a set of spares while you're at it.

drill the vent hole yourself.Your temps will stay more constant with no cycling of thermostat.

In my cooling travels I have learned this helps with gulping and eliminates cycling. It is a definite modification one should use. Or not.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: Governor gear wheel weights
« on: September 27, 2017, 05:42:40 AM »
If it were mine I would keep things as original as possible. I believe the weight of the weights would affect the response to the RPM change and it's ability to manage the load. Not sure but using the original weights would keep it simple if they slip in place.
