Okay I will check those. And check the pump timing again last time I checked it was with faulty pumps. It’s going to be a few days had to pull off and work on my vehicle.

If wasn’t atomizing before first both pumps weren’t pumping. Sent them off they sent back to rebuilt working pumps. But still not atomizing but the pumps where pumping. So sent the injectors off they sent back two injectors rebuilt. I stuck them on fired it up and still noticed they where still missing on those two cylinders. That’s as far as I’ve gotten.

Yeah they are actually new rebuilt ones from a dei in Kansas. They kept the original and send me all functioning parts I haven’t checked the atomization though yet. 2 of them aren’t working the 3rd runs good. Might have been a user error putting it together somehow. is there a way to check compression? I figure if it’s atomizing it’s definitely something to do with valves or maybe I installed the rings wrong low compression.

Thanks guys for the reply’s. I ended up getting 2 injectors rebuilt and 2 fuel pumps rebuilt. I’ve installed them but I still have a miss on both of those cylinders. I haven’t messed with it anymore lately but that’s where I’m at so far

Well I have given up on that fuel pump leak. I have taken it apart at least 20 times. Soaked it in chemtool to try and get all the carbon out. Switched around different plungers and pieces and nothing has worked. Guess I’ll order another pump..

No I don’t depending on the cost of them setting the pressure or buying a tester I haven’t checked the injectors and have replaced one of the nozzles already. They aren’t too expensive I can get a pop tester for $100 on the internet. And I will probably go ahead and buy one. Most of my equipment is diesel anyway.  If I get the leak stopped I will go from there. Hopefully this evening I can work on the pump some more. The motor has been setting probably 20 years who knows how long it was tore apart it was in a barn dismantled I paid $100 for it and it was all gummed up from setting which doesn’t help. but the engine is simple enough I will get it going. The pumps have been the biggest learning curve of it all they are a pain for someone that has never heard of a lister before  But I believe I have them figured out now. Just need another good day of messing with it.

Thanks! That is handy. I will save that schematic.

Yeah they are working. Just that one is leaking. It has all new guts in it. I checked it with the injector hooked up. Upside down and it was spraying. One of the pumps I need to get a new spray nozzle for the injector it doesn’t pop like it should. It just sprays. I switched the injectors around to make sure it was the injector nozzle and it was. I’m going to clean it good and put it back together again. If I can’t get it to stop I guess il have to order a injector. I hope I don’t have to go that route. Right now I have two good pumps and one that is working but leaking out the rack. And one bad injector nozzle

I did test them and all was working fine. But I went ahead and broke it down when I couldn’t figure out what was going wrong. That’s when I noticed that the set screw in the back wasn’t in the chamber. Both weren’t. They weren’t leaking at the time. But when I took it apart and put it back together that’s when it started. I actually think that was my problem the whole time. I haven’t been able to test it out yet it’s been raining here. The manuals suck on those pumps it doesn’t go into depth on how to rebuild them at all. It’s been mostly trial and error. It tells how to time the pump but when it comes to disassembly there wasn’t much to go on.

Hey guys what would cause one of my fuel pumps to leak out of here? Where the tip of the pen is.

Okay thanks. I ended up taking the 2 pumps I have messed with apart again. And noticed that I didn’t Put the part below the delivery valve in correctly. The flat head screw on the back wasn’t in the hole on both pumps. I put those back together correctly. One of the pumps is leaking diesel on the rack it sprays out when I’m priming it. Is that a gasket or do I need another pump. I’m slowly learning this engine very slowly.. thanks for all the help guys much appreciated.

With the lift pump unhooked I installed a hose on the discharge side of the lift pump side and poured diesel into the hose. Tried cranking it over and I’m getting pressure out of the hose. It’s blowing out of the hose.

Think I might hook a 12v electric fuel pump too it. To see if it will run. Try and isolate the problem. Figure out if it is the pumps or the supply to the pumps.

Well the lift pump was close. I adjusted it a little. But not much. On those linkages on the fuel pumps should I be able to move them easily when the motor is shut off?
