Waste Vegetable Oil / salt cracking oil
« on: December 21, 2007, 10:39:01 PM »
Before I get chastised for buying into this whole oxy salt oil cracking thing - did an experiment last night with some centrifuged wvo, salt and my wife's blender (done while  she was asleep).

Ended up with a top layer of creamy wax, middle layer of oil and a bottom layer of watery stuff.

Figure anything I take out of the wvo is a plus - right?

Anyone doing this or something similar?

Here's a link to the website;   http://www.hydrogenappliances.com/bioD.html

Waste Vegetable Oil / What do you do with the leftover crud
« on: December 16, 2007, 11:01:22 AM »
Filtering cubies thru screens into drums and let gravity do the rest.  End up with lots of fried food chunks, water and "baby poop" sludge.  Taking the stuff to the transfer station but starting to get odd looks. Don't want to just dump in in the ground.   Is there anything useful to do with the leftovers of this process?  Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Waste Vegetable Oil / wvo thinned with ?
« on: December 16, 2007, 10:42:06 AM »
Have a guy on island that is blending wvo with 5 or 6 "secret" ingredients he got from some German website. Runs it straight in his diesel vehicle (2000km no problems).  Of course, since these are "secret" no one knows what they are.  Since WD40 makes such an excellent wvo solvent figure part of the formula is naphtha and mineral spirits; probably RUG also. Anyone have any experience lowering wvo viscosity with naphtha, mineral spirits, RUG etc.
