I remember your build on another forum, its what helped me down this path originally, so thanks! Is there anything you would do differently now?

I appreciate the info. Any other words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds interesting. Has anyone here put a turbo on a CS before?

I'm in northern california. If anyone wanted to come take a look, I would be greatful.

The guy that got me into these things a year ago went through it with me. I had the CD and we took a look at it together. Everything seemed ok and all. He's gone now and he took the CD. I'll order another one, but money is pretty tight right now. I'm sure it will help, though. I'll read that link as well.

Should the fuel pump be moving back and forth as the flywheels turn? I hope that makes sense?

Thanks for the help

Would it help if I put up pictures of what I'm talking about?

I'm going off of this manual here:

Also how do I check if the fuel pump is working properly?

HELP!!! Please!!! I'm off grid with no power using my truck with a power inverter to run thing now, so I really need this thing to get up and running!!!

Engines / How do I start this thing????

Sorry for the total newbiness of this question, but I am stumped. I have a Powersolutions 6/1 that I have never had running and I decided to get it going, but now it's all ready and I can't get it to start. I found a manual and it told me to do some things that I couldn't do because I have no idea what they are talking about. I filled the fluids like the manual said, oil and diesel. I primed the fuel pump and turned the cut-off hand lever down, but I don't see a lube oil pump hand lever compression c/o valve or valve lifter? I'm sure I just don't know what I'm looking for, but will some one help me out?

Thanks.

Is anything cheap any more?

I am in the process of setting up the generator to run through an inverter/charge controller into 6 volt golf cart batteries. I did this for a couple of reasons. I can afford these batteries at $50 a piece, they are 6 volt and therefore will be easy to replace in the same configuration with better batteries later, and they can handle being charged and discharged repeatedly.

I just have to buy the inverter now and wire the whole thing up.

Nice to see you here, Tom. This is the set-up that got me into Listeroids.

I'm glad my 6/1 didn't look like yours did!

Lister Based Generators / Re: Making a frame for a generator

I'd guess I could bolt it through metal frame and 6x6 to the concrete. Shouldn't be too hard.

As you can tell, I haven't even fired the engine up yet. I figured I had better bolt it up to some thing before I start it up, but I'm getting pretty anxious. Plus, I have 50 other projects to finish up as well.

Check out my 6x6 timber frame at..-- http://community.webshots.com/album/221767803TxfJoG

One warning about wood frames..... I used long lag bolts in several places to hold the frame-work to the wood.  After about 3,000 hours of operation some of these lags are loosening due to oily wood failing.   Plan on drilling all the way through and using big washers and nuts on the bottom.  I like the galvanized square plates found in the concrete section of Home Depot for washers.

Thanks for the link. That was quite an experience.
