Bob,

do not cut your wrists. Life is short ... and we're all in the same boat.

At least I already know that I'm going to die from cardio-respiratory arrest... Everyone does... LOL

however, I will put a fresh rosé to keep my heart happy and oiled,

Cheers

Hi Bob

I saw in other post, you are working arround issus.

As we say here "to improve is fine, for worse it is enough!"

While you have been out, my fun was splitting the Leslie wood for winter in village, and clean the Lister sump.

Meanwhile, this "1st" Petter is getting shape. It has had a hard life, very indeed. The fan casing has some patches, and a bunch of welding.

I'll give it the best face I can.

All the best for you and family

PS: see your mail.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: CS head - worth bothering with?
« on: June 15, 2019, 09:11:51 AM »
Hi Mike

Both the head, valves, pump and injector seem to me to be in good internal condition, of course a good cleaning helps to realize if there are too large clearances. On the outside they have the rust of the time they stay seated.

That alu piston with spoked wheels, and the tricky ring maybe will give you a bitter mouth...

Remove that scale, and disassemble all bits, especially the injector pump, and checks if the element is correct for 6/1 (because of the flow rate), and the injector has to be tuned to the correct pressure.

Good luck.

Many thanks Butch

As I said  before only a few "nuts" like me - and I can't find nomore arround  -  start a sort of passion for this old machines. Therefore, most of them are simply dumped to scrap container, for melting - in perfect run condition...

And for the heartbreaking there is no listeroids, only genuine dursley cast iron.

So, I got to save thoses  cam lobes anyway.

Hi Everyone

A few more pounds of patience, and a more lateral approach to the problem, I was able to remove the last bolts from the main bearing housing. Once again, the Jim Perkins method turned out to be perfect.

Now just clean, primer paint, MBG paint, mount everything and the other Petter already has mate.

Have a nice week.

Hi Everyone

Looking closer to the "anaconda" the journals looks ok, besides some pitting in shaft extent.

But i'm conserned with a sort of metal pattern on the place of flywheels. Please take a look at pics and tell if that is some sort of metal stress.

By the way, cam shaft lobs specs are:
LIP - 48,5 mm
RIP - 49 mm
LIN - 45,75 mm
LEX - 48,5 mm
RIN - 45,95 mm
REX - 48,35 mm

Cheers

PS: Butch and Bob, don't let me down...

Hi Everyone

It works. Yahoooooooooooo! The "anaconda" is out of sump.

First the spanner... making 2 from the price of one.

It was last night 1 AM - there was no time to made a proper lever... To improvise is the word of order.

Pipe wrench with a pipe for leverage to make a angle lever.

It came out. 35 kg of steel snake.

Sump is empty. Now a good clean to start reassemble.

Hi Mike

Oxalic ont be enough. Rather electrolysis, but... be carfull with listard coating (depending on what chemicals you use).

Cylinder in that case is better be brushed with angle grinder

Good luck

Hi Stef

"Pied dans le fumier". Congretulations.

Congratulations, seriously.

I know the surroundings, like Lourdes, Tarbes and Toulouse (and further till switzerland). Beautiful site.

Follow, now, your imagination. Don't forget to open "une bonne bouteille".

Hi Everyone

What you see, is what I got!

The 2 cam lobes of injection pump tappets are "really" pitted.

But the IP's tappet has a roller, so they got to hang on...

Butch,

Please read this site: https://www.bernardoecenarro.com/en/actualidad/detalle/besa-moves-to-bigger-facilities-in-canada.

As far as I can see my MBGreen came from this producer: https://www.bernardoecenarro.com/en/industrial-paint/paint-manufacturers/bind-decoration/satin-urethane-enamel/297.

I request to made it to 170ºC temperature, same as "paragon paints, uk". But as you can see in the site of my supplier (only in pt lang.) but you can see he can customize in RAL, NCS, PANTONE, BRITISH STANDER...

Is that BStandard you want, and you need.

By the way, I noticed the cam lobe of exaust is taller than the intake. What can you tell about?

That's al for now.

Cheers
