Listeroid Engines / Re: gasket for the 6/1 - which side up?
« on: February 22, 2020, 07:39:40 PM »
Hi Tyss

Original ONLY can go one way.

And the side of the ridge stay faced down.

THIS is what I wanted to know.   The completely smooth side goes up, the side with the slight ridge goes down.

Hi Tyss

Have you seen my thread as I told you?

Here, again. Pay attention - PLEASE: https://listerengine.com/smf/index.php?topic=8320.msg103752#msg103752

What do you see? Honestly!

Hi JP2

Hi think he leaves that video in the channel just for playing, because, as far as I can figured, all method is all wrong - and the engine will start in backwards.

Makes perfect sense to me, and it works for any 4 stroke engine, as inlet and exhaust cam lobes will always rock over on TDC.

Do not forget that cam lobes must be in different offsets, to run backward.

My post was to amuse us a little and to divert the subject, that beggins to be corrosive. IMHO.

I think the important thing here is not to see who has the best ballerina feet, to walk on the tips of the toes.

Butch is perfectly available to anyone who wants to consult and consider that his opinion is important.

It will certainly not be available for nonsense, and free offenses.

Hi tyssniffen

Just look at here: https://listerengine.com/smf/index.php?topic=8320.msg103752#msg103752

The original gaskets (and original Lister) has 2 large holes and guides to fit the gasket in correct way!

Hi Dkmc

Just to give you a slight enlightenment, Butch slammed the door to give way to other canone knowledge about the subject.

I think he dismantled all footage because they were all wrong.

Since there we are all waiting for the best practice to achive that disered goal - documented with conspicuousness, offcourse.

So far nothing but void rant.

Just my thougts.

Hi Gentles

Remember I said that the shack where the Lister was could not take another winter?

Storms Elsa and Fabian broke the roof of the shack.

2 pics from before and after.

PS: on the right below you can see the lister foundation.

Hi Gentles

Copper gasket applied in both bottom face of gaskets, because the face of heads has been skimmed and so they are perfectly flat.

Heads already in place and torqued, and I forget to make a pic of the coated gaskets.

Next start up of it iŽll let it warm up a bit to retorque all nuts, while it stays warm after shutdown.

PS: 1 pic of the product.

Now pics from cyl #2

Hi Gentles

The two heads are out and cleaned. A eye ball magnifier shows cyl # 2 was leaking due to a low spot.

Do you remember I didn't skim the cylindres, because I don't want to loss original stamps in the cast iron.

I think that just a retorque of studs will do, but in this way I can get the global picture of the work done before.

Now will get copper gasket seal to fill that little spot, and torque nuts to proper spec.

Hi Gentles

Today I was maintaining the Lister. I filled the cylinder jackets with water, and when it started to work he splashed some water through the hot water outlet manifold.

I suspect that one of the head gaskets must be leaking. A few more hours to take the heads apart.

Nothing that a Lister can't be worth.

Anyway, TLC.
