Engines / Re: LR1 intake and exhaust backwards
« on: April 11, 2020, 09:45:22 AM »
Hi Dmatt

I'm afraid it will be straight forward: strip all down and rebuild with parts in proper place. There is a manual indicating where parts go.

Hi OSM

Its been a while out of LEF!

Do you really need it to be electric start? what about some arm e wrist exercise?

Stay safe, and if you can give an eye of what Bob has been doing (He's off too many long ago) and report, it will be great.

Other Slow Speed Diesels / Re: Kubota EA300

Hi tanman

I would suggest prior a wood fire by the intake manifold, or by the fuel fill cap!

Are you insane? the injector is a nanometer clearance piece of fine engineering. DO NOT MESS WITH INJECTOR! IT MUST BE PRISTINE!

ABC of Rudolf Christian Karl Diesel: diesel will ignite with pressurized amount of air, and a spray more pressurized than that air!

hammers, torches, mallets and other stuff will ruin it.

Be patient! look at it as a very fine piece of art, that you can give two turns with a handle and the magic happens.

Stay safe

Hi Hes

first of all: strip every part, clean thoroughly every part (some pics wil help when reassembly), mesure main parts (bore, piston, rings, journals, babits, bushes, etc).

After that - only - you will see IF you need some parts. Dont expect to have a Ferrari!

You seems to be hurried!

Be safe

PS: tilt pics and resize pics, and tilt and cut.

Hi Veg

The bump will give you the compression ratio - how do you want it? hard or smouth? See the book range spec! (if hard: low range, else top range)

Fire time: What states the book FOR diesel? ah, you want to run it veg? So what will be the rate of self combustion of veg related to diesel? (veg takes more time? therefore spill more far from TDC)

Read again (maybe twice) your other thread, here: https://listerengine.com/smf/index.php?topic=8993.msg104583#msg104583

Any doubt... strip it all down and rebuild it again.

But, stay safe... and inside.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: cracked piston
« on: April 08, 2020, 11:55:04 AM »
Hi Veg

One thing for sure, this piston broke, and the next will brake also IF the other issus still not resolved. Take a close look at firing time.

Have you seen how I had done with my 12/2?

Hi Veg

Start spray ignites very earlier, and so the piston is farway from TDC, therfore it will break the least strong piece, in this case alu piston.

Chrome bores CANT have chrome rings, its hard metal work in hard metal. Can you see result of this friction?

Chrome bores need soft rings...

Stay safe.
