Listeroid Engines / Parts availability - 10/1
« on: March 17, 2023, 03:54:23 PM »
Does anyone know a good place to source 10/1 parts? Is everything the same as the 6/1 besides the top end?

Those dual flywheel machines look super cool, one must be able to run that at lower rpm? 650??

That is terrible, I'm curious how insurance handles something like a listeroid. I know of few places where I could find a legitimate "replacement cost" to send them. They also may want me to repair it, in that case I already talked to Butch about getting in gone through.

I was in the process of collecting all the components needed to build my off grid power system when I ran into a large issue this winter. I had a fire in my shop one night that claimed a lot of my components. I'm still working with insurance to see what I can claim and for how much. So I will be gutting my shop down to the studs and starting over. With this in mind I started thinking about how I want to do my system. Originally I was going to use a unregulated alternator (or two) running off of my 12/2 GM90. Now I'm wondering if I should instead go to AC charging via a inverter charger. The one issue is, I know that some inverter chargers are picky about the power input being "clean". Does anyone have thoughts about what would be the best AC charging setup I could put together with a lister type engine? (this way I could always bypass the inverter charger and send AC current directly to my transfer switch) Or should I stick with the DC charging route directly to my DC load center? Any input is appreciated.

My system was going to be 18kwh lithium battery bank, about 7kw of solar on the roof, make sky blue charger controllers + growatt 6000t inverter charger, 12/2 GM90 running an unregulated alternator (under supervision and using a voltage cutoff device) when needed. All the DC stuff was going to a DC load center and the only AC power would be coming off of the inverter to send to a transfer switch for the house. I was possibly going to put a grid AC input into the inverter charge as a backup when I travel and can't start the engine to charge the batteries on long cloudy weeks in the winter.

I'm pretty much open to any changes and input, because most/all of these components were affected by the fire, smoke, water, or all 3.

Here we go !
I am on the east coast of Florida.
Looked like is was going to stay west of us until yesterday. Now it has moved
east and looks like it will be just north of me. I'm near Melbourne.
Got my Coleman stuff ready. I started collecting years ago so I'm well stocked
with lanterns, stoves and fuel !
Got my generators staged and ready. I have 4 diesel gen sets, so good there.

I know members just south of me.

How much fuel do you keep around for the iron beasts?

Stay safe and take cover !

Gary

32, are you still up for making an offset bolt?

Hi Mike, I couldn’t get the links to work. Could you re-posting them?

I found it! So looking inside the engine I slowly turned it over to exactly when it clicks, and I could actually see the camshaft clicking the idler gear. What I mean is the camshaft is basically spring loaded from the valves and at a certain point the pressure on the camshaft was causing it to jump forward and make a click sound against the idler gear. So I think my gear lash is a bit too loose. I attempted to measure it with my feeler gauge and I think it’s around a .018 gap.

What’s interesting is it’s seemingly only the number two side valves. I’m concerned it may be touching the piston ever so slightly. One thing I noticed putting it together was that one of the valves was really tightened down and it actually stopped the rotation when I was turning it over. I was doing it very slow with no flywheels so I don’t think there’s any damage, but after gapping the valves correctly it didn’t bind at all….. just those two metallic sounds that seem like they are happening as the exhaust then intake valve are opened.
