Lister Based Generators / 8-1 START-O-MATIC
« on: June 21, 2019, 08:56:08 AM »
WHEN I eventually, if I live long enough, re-build my Lister 8-1 Start-o-matic, I KNOW I will need someone to re-build the two boxes of gubbins.  I have lots and lots of gubbins in their naked, taken to bits state, but it all needs putting back together again and repairing where necessary and setting up ready to go straight back.  It was taken to bits in order that the boxes could be galvanised and that was about seven years ago!  Could anyone see themselves up for that task, please?  My electrical skills are just not good enough and never will be.  A rough quote would be gratefully received.  Thank you very much to anyone prepared for such a challenge.

Lister Based Generators / ST2 40 AMP FUSE
« on: June 18, 2019, 12:41:40 AM »
Hi - does anyone have a 40 Amp blade fuse for the starting of my ST2, please and also a push starter button, that I could buy?  Can anyone tell me where I can get a fuse or a modern equivalent?  Presumable as long as the fuse is rated for a continuous 24 volts and 40 amps - anything that said it would do that - would do that!?

I use the generator everyday for power, so need this as a matter of urgency.  I rang Sleeman and Hawkins, but they could no longer help with the fuse and wanted an extortionate sum for the starter button!

If anyone can help me, would they be kind enough to e-mail me on:

This machine at 7 Kva does not give me sufficient electricity - I need to sell it (or swap it - it's in jolly good nick!) for a 3 cylinder to flash my welder - can anyone help, please?

Many thanks.

General Discussion / HELP ON THE GROUND!

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN!

This is a long-shot!  Are there, per-chance, any experts very near Land's End in Cornwall, UK?!!!

I run an ST2 daily and wondered how feasable it is to obtain the missing bits to make it a Start-o-Matic.  I am also starting a re-build on my 8/1 and that needs an expert (as far as I am concerned!) to sort out the start-o-matic bit there too.  Fine with spanners and oil, hopeless on high-grade sparks, Faradays, ohms leading to acrid smoke, sizzlings and explosions!

If there is anyone in the out-back of West Penwith as far as Truro (or even beyond) I should be enormously grateful to hear from them and thank you very much in advance.

My e-mail is:  k.runcimanannand@gmail.com

Happy New Year to all.
