Listeroid Engines / Re: Flywheel energy
« on: October 01, 2021, 08:18:59 AM »
This technology was widely used at cell phone towers in South Africa in the 90's.  An electric motor turning a huge concrete flywheel, which would apparently power the tower for 2 to 3 days in the event of a power outage.  As far as I'm aware, they've all been replaced by battery storage. (which causes another problem in that these batteries get stolen on a huge scale resulting in many towers without power during an outage)

I understand Cobba's reply to mean pretty much yes, or a combination of electric and air tools off an electrically driven compressor.  I think pulley driven tools will be a huge pain in the arse, not to mention limiting the distance you could work from the trailer.

Hey Starfire, I have been collecting WVO for some time now, but am reluctant to burn it without a WI system installed.  I have read Glort's and other methods, but am quite intrigued by what you've done.  Would you be so kind as to post a couple of pics or diagrams of your system?  Cheers, Peter

Why don't you turn that outlet pipe to face downwards?  That way it won't fill your tank with rainwater.

As noted above, the outlet is positioned to accept a screw-on stack.
The vertical stack will extend up above my garage and will have a rain cap on top.
The stack will be 3" PVC pipe.

Sorry, my bad.  Didn't read properly

My SR2 doesn't have a return to the filter, only one going back to the tank and is working perfectly, so I guess it would be fine to blank yours off.  At the worst, if you have problems, you can always make a connection again.

I tried that but he is gone, cleared out, disappeared, maybe the CIA got him.  I left him a PM on Microgen, but he hasn't replied or read it.  I too found his knowledge useful and easily overlooked his abrasiveness.  His insight into everything WMO/WVO is unequalled.  If you do happen to go past him, please PM me his details.  I know EdDee is also keen to contact him. Thanks, Peter

I see Glort has disappeared from the forum, I assume banned as all his post have also gone missing.  I would like to get hold of him, so if anyone might have his email address, would you please share, or PM me.  Thanks, Peter

Just be aware that with that Z in your serial number, the engine is designed to run in the reverse of your normal Lister , IIRC.

Are you sure that the starter is too weak, or is it not that you should be flipping the decompression levers before trying to start?
