Listeroid Engines / Listeroid 20/2 heads
« on: April 02, 2014, 10:23:28 PM »
I am rebuilding a 20/2 and need a set (2) of heads. Anyone know where I might get a couple, or even one?
Thanks ... Ken Gardner

Yup, been there done that. I didn't have your luck. Both of the heads cracked when the cold water hit them. Mine is a 20/2, anybody have heads they would sell after the first of the year?

You might gain some insights by taking a look at the work and development done by Dan MacAmoil with his raw fuel.

dieselgman

I looked at his site. All the info seemed to be around 4-5 years old. I wonder what the latest is on this fuel.

You can get a commercial multigrooved pulley with a Browning Hub. Use a standard commercial multigrooved belt run off the rim of the flywheel. The custom made multigroove pulleys are usually cut to use automotive multigroove belts, which are a little cheaper.

Waste Vegetable Oil / Re: do these work ?

I skimmed through it. I'd say it is pretty much on track. I have burned WVO for several years and do not use all the precautions suggested here. Some of the claims made are questionable.
What are your plans. Maybe I can offer an opinion or two.

Good job. Tube In Hose (TIH) is what I use to heat the WVO on my Ford PSD. I have thousands of miles on it burning WVO. The only suggestion I have it to use as much aluminum rather then copper or steel as possable. WVO gets along much better with aluminum.
You could wrap a few coils of tubing around the filter (copper here would be ok as you would be running coolant not WVO through it) to heat it.

Sounds to me like the engine may be low on oil. However, I do wonder what the knocking sound is. Are you still on the original cam? Do you have dippers on the rods? If you do have dippers the knock most likely is not from the rods. Hummmmm what's knocking?

General Discussion / smog pump for boost
« on: January 10, 2012, 01:09:02 PM »
Not too long ago, on one of the few forums I attend, there was mentioned using a smog pump to boost intake on a gas engine. I would like to know more about such an idea but can't find the thread. Do any of you guys know how to do this?
Ken Gardner
PS: I am posting this on the other forums too. So if you keep seeing this it is because you are following me. ;D

Holy Catfish I have been gone a long time. I got involved on the Cogen Forum and abandoned you guys. Sorry. I was reminded of this forum upon visiting Chris who has rebuilt the old 16/1 I once used. What a fun day I had going to see it and work on "Tuning" it up. He did a great job of salvaging a burned up engine.
I'll stay in touch .....

Other Slow Speed Diesels / Changfa Head troubles
« on: January 23, 2007, 05:01:26 PM »
Just passing on info here, not complaning, the engine is a good one.
On a new Changfa 1115 Engine / Genset head was cracked under the exhaust valve spring, sort of hard to find. Anyway I recieved a new head. I installed it and after running for about 4-5 hrs the stud that holds the air cleaner in place broke loose from it's weld (inside the piece between the manifold and the air cleaner), rattled free from the top and traveled down through the intake manifold, under the intake valve, across the inside of the cylinder to the exhaust valve. It damaged both valves, bent a push rod and scared the piston a little. What Luck :( Yuck!! Anyway, I was able to put the valves from the cracked head into the new one and get her back up and running.
These are certainly tuff engines and are easy to work on.
