Ok guys i have jumped into the deep end of a great pool to be a part of ;D, now i need lessons.   :-[

I imported a 12/1 powerline Lister air compressor and also ordered the electric start kit and engine kit. Put it all together and all is running well.
Then i find out that i was supposed to tear it down and replace parts.  (from reading posts in this forum) is this right?
I Did check the casing and found no voids full of casting sand nor any in the sump.  one main bearing  oiling tube was broken at the weld joint it has been repaired.

I will post some pics of the build when i get them into the gallery.

any advice would be appreciated

my avatar is the finished unit

My 12/1 is on rubber dampeners when first installed 4 was not enough or they were in the wrong place and the frame was sitting on the concrete the vibration was felt in the floor and building. After adding more near engine all is smooth.

Thanks Jo for the cudos on the build. ;)
sorry you dis like the price, not making much of a profit on this, not my reason for selling. Just trying to recoup my cost.
Your right about make, it is a power line lister, sorry about that.
What kind of juicy info would you like about build. I have pics of most steps.

Grid power for the AC and shop then gen for all other seems to be the best option. Easy to set up in my situation, mobile home, two breaker boxes to work with. Could leave outside box on grid and put a manual transfer switch on inside panel. Small power bill in summer, even smaller in winter. With the ability to go100% grid when needed. Not my original desire when building this set but a reasonable compromise.

Casey my power company does not do net metering for generators. Only renewable energy.

I totally agree that lowering power usage is the best way to go. Over the last five years I have lowered my power bill by half. Better appliances, metal roof with three and a half inches  dead air space, wood heat.
Diesel fuel at current prices does not make it feasible for of grid, but WMO does .
Tom I'm a fellow Californian. No hard feelings. Coastal breeze one thing I miss.

I have thought of the inverter and batteries for the AC idea. Not sure how to hook this up though.
Or using grid to start AC then switching to gen. Using a paddle switch in front of evaporator fan with two contacts in unit.
or leaving AC  on grid and run the rest on gen.
I'm in Georgia.
Tom you make it sound as if my power usage is excessive. I have one of the lowest power bills in my church and work.

OK here is the info you asked for

The idea of this genset is off grid either totally or partially.
Last months power usage was 1354 kWh
I use propane for stove, and tankless water heaters.
major appliances include refer, freezer, cloths washer, dryer (not using in summer), dish washer, microwave, wood stove blower (primary heat) pool pump, submersible well pump, Air conditioner.

current set up is 12 Hp Lister 1000 rpm, ST10 gen head coupled together using 12 inch pulley on engine, 6 inch pulley on gen head, two B belts. 220 AVR on gen head, back wired through 60amp breaker using #6 wire.

I have thought about changing the belting to the fly wheel and getting a larger pulley for the gen head, will have to modify my frame to move the gen head.

With current set up I can start and run air con as long as nothing Else is running. With air, refer, well and some lights i can not run pool. ( I know Priorities right ;) ).
if anything Else is running I can not start Air, it will literally shut down engine.

Primary reason for building this gen set was for off grid use and to own a Lister.

Thanks for the info on last post
From that info it would be safe to say that it is unrealistic to believe my set up would be big enough to run my house.12 hp St10 .?

Lister Based Generators / Genset problems
« on: July 11, 2012, 03:13:52 AM »
Greetings all
I recently imported a 12/1 Powerline listeroid.  Attached it to a 10,000KW ST gen head.  Belt driven
!000 RPM on Engine 1800 RPM gen.
what kind of power should i be expecting from this unit?
what is the best place for the drive belts on these Lister,  on the flywheel or other pulley?
lots of questions not many answers.
have been playing with this set for about three months about ready to scrap the project and sell out.
