It could be worse. You could have all of this snow and the power still be on.  ;D

We got 18" but the wind whipped up some 4' drifts for me. I really dislike shoveling snow.

Tomorrow I will be doing the itchy and scratchy thing again.... re-lag the header pipe with fibreglass tape..... I wonder if my son is coming to visit.... I am sure I could play waiter and ferry the ales while he lags it..... I wonder if he will catch on to my sly trickery...

I insulated my attic today. 2 showers later I think I finally got all of the fiberglass out. I feel your impending pain.

Being as all new molds would need to be made, why not pursue USA manufacturing? Sure it would be more expensive, but also leaps and bounds higher quality. If it is to be a kit engine I imagine most US foundries could get it closer to spec and save the shipping. I personally would much rather spend my dollar that way.

Your location is key... shipping costs can be a killer.

Excellent point. I thought it was in my profile but it isn't. I am in Virginia USA.

I have a 6/1 from an SOM set but I am missing the 24V decompression solenoid, actuator, and linkage. I would be interested in any of the pieces and parts as I may be able to put something together if I can find enough of the original assembly. I am also looking for an original cast iron or fabricated steel base.

Shoot me a PM.

Thanks,
Russell

I am in VA USA.

However, both ports in the head are threaded, it's a 7 stud head, and I'll get it rebuilt, I just wondered if it was off something else other than a CS.

Cheers Stef

Could it be an Indian variation so that it would work on either side of a twin?

Geographically I think our countries are similar, but we have marginally better neighbours.... :)

Que?

I think a braze would hold up pretty good. I would put a good thick washer over the repair just to spread the load a little. A Dursley made replacement is still the best scenario but if you have to make it work I think Brass would hold just fine.

Newer propane tanks have flow limiting devices built in. I have had a couple that were especially finicky that I had to slowly open the valve on or they would trip and shut off. It may have something to do with it. Another avenue to venture down anyway. Do you have an older or different tank you can try?

1624 and 2168 Lbs respectively for the 8/1

There is no spec for the 8/1 in that brochure. Those numbers are for FR model engines.

My 6/1 and generator was about 535kg or 1180 lbs.

Cast iron base? That is probably another couple hundred lbs.
