Listeroid Engines / Re: Watts in the box?

Yes that would be me.

Mid Sept. is the time to plant. We also should have some soybeans this fall.

The new toy will get a steady diet of home brew.

You must be way south to be planting beans in Sept?

Winter canola is planted in mid Sept. and harvested mid June the next year. Although I do have a little southern accent, I am not that far south. Live in Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley.

The boxes are open. The kit looks to be in good shape. The big question is should I take the bottom end completely apart, or flush out any crumbs and assemble the top end?

The obligatory look into the crank case. I think the bugs are ordinary domestic farm bugs that did not make the trip.

How do you like the centrifuge?  Did it come with the feed cone, or did you up grade?

Does gyroscopic precession come into play when balancing a flywheel?

SNIP
What are you growing for fuel?  Ever planted jatropha?
isn't jatropha very labor intensive?

We grow winter canola and soybeans. Jatropha is a tropical plant, it would not grow in Virginia. And yes, it is very labor intense.

Hobbies do take on a life of their own. And they can eat up space.

This...........

Turned into this over time.

Listeroid Engines / Watts in the box?
« on: August 16, 2011, 02:31:03 AM »
I hope someday to generate a few watts. I just got a big box from Diesel Electric. Let the fun begin. I have been reading and lurking for a few months. Now I have a reason to become a user, and maybe even a pain. There could be 10,000 questions before the project is completed, if that is possible.  As I tell my friends, this hobby will be cheaper than a bass boat. ;D

Small world. I have a big ol' crate showing up Monday. Would like to know what you find out.

Cowboy,
Good luck with the engine. I was just reading this forum when I saw the free engine post. I tried to register to get the contact info, but it took a number of days to get approved. Membership does have privileges. Someone was even traveling from FL to our farm with an empty trailer. The stars did not line up this time, but I am ready for the next time.

I do have my eye on a parts kit project, so I should have sand, oil, and cheap paint under my finger nails soon.
