Listeroid Engines / Re: Commissioning Run ! finally.
« on: December 29, 2012, 03:13:55 PM »
Mike,

I can run my roid for half an hour and the crank case doesn't get very warm. (Indoors)
Just luke warm to the touch.  Its too far away from the heat source and the  crank case has a lot of mass to warm up.
There is very little heat produced in the case.
A winter grade oil is all you can do if you are concerned about the low temps.

Lister Based Generators / Re: Help for 6/1 foundation
« on: December 21, 2012, 04:00:23 AM »

I mounted my base on rubber isolators which, in turn are bolted to the garage floor.
The engine runs smooth and there is no vibration in the concrete floor.

Great success story.!
(I was wondering if there were any Lister(roid) systems helping people through that storm.)
Thanks for sharing your experience, it also helps the rest of us validate our projects.

Generators / Re: ST head bearing failure?
« on: December 13, 2012, 04:26:21 AM »

Mike,

If the bearings accidentally arrive with a snap ring, just remove the ring a throw it away.
The remaining snap ring groove on the outer race of the bearing will have no effect.
Other than that, the bearings will be identical.

As far as I know.... the "Field Marshall" brand is a basic Listeroid the same as most others.

You should be able to get all the parts you need here...
