Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: Latest Project 8/1 SOM

That is a beauty.  Well done !

What color code do you use for the green paint?
Is there a universal number or color mix that I could use to replicate that shade?

cheers,

Hi,
Can this fine motor be shipped to Texas?
Regards,
Earl Beverly

Being a used engine, there may be a possibility.
Honestly I dont know. Last year I shipped a 700 lb. Seed Press to Oklahoma with no issues.
You will have to check with USA Customs to determine if a used (although virtually new) non-EPA antique replica can be imported.
Then arrange a truck to pick it up.

I can prepare it for transport and prepare a commercial invoice for customs purposes.

Listeroid Engines / Re: Flicker flicker
« on: April 08, 2014, 02:44:58 PM »
What I am getting at is this...
I recently wired up the house with a transfer switch and I plan to install my ST5 head on the listeroid.
At this point I have not selected the belt drive so my engine speeds are flexible.
My GM90 Listeroid can run anywhere between 500 and 900 rpm (of course the BHP output changes with speed).
I am happy with the KW output with the engine running at 650 but if speeds upwards of 850 rpm eliminate flicker then I
can run at a faster speed.

So... I am wondering if anyone with an 8/1 or 10/1 (which typically run between 800 and 1000) is noticing flicker with an ST head ?

Listeroid Engines / Flicker flicker
« on: April 07, 2014, 08:59:09 PM »

As we know, flickering lights is a common experience with 6/1 engines driving an ST3 or ST5 head.
I am wondering if anyone using an 8/1 or a 10/1 is experiencing the same thing being the these engines can run at 750 to 850 rpm ?
Wondering if the slightly higher engine speed eliminates the flicker?

Generators / Re: New Project - Lister SR2 with ST5 head
« on: March 27, 2014, 02:08:47 PM »
dieselgman,

The belt drive is a 1.28:1 ratio.
Engine in governed to 1400 rpm and the 1.28 ratio will drive the head at 1800rpm.
The pulleys do look small...but, they are 4 grooves wide and use the high BHP rated 3V belts.
The drive is rated for 28 BHP although I will only be pulling about 10-12 HP at 5KW.
Not a very good picture, but if you look closely you can see the multi-grooved belt.

Generators / New Project - Lister SR2 with ST5 head
« on: March 26, 2014, 07:31:35 PM »
I am fairly far along with my latest project so I thought I would post a pic.
This is a Lister LR2 (which I purchased from a forum member) connected to an ST-5 generator head.
The base was designed to keep the components mounted as close together as possible to make a compact unit.
The odd looking feet on the base are Navy engine vibration isolators.
The isolators are very soft and absorb virtually all vibration and movement.
I have some final modifications to do with the electrical and then I should be able to post a video of the unit in action.

wow...great idea !
It would be most interesting to learn what other things he is doing to this engine.
I would love to make a similar project of my GTG 6/1 Listeroid.

You can use one of these...

Make sure you measure the diameter of your injector tubing to match the sensor on the tach.

Thanks fellas for explaining the diode/AC element operation.
What type of diode is required to do this?
Obviously not your everyday circuit board diode.
I a guessing it may be purchased from an electrical supply shop rather than an electronics component place?

Cheers
