Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: Container Shippment
« on: April 11, 2011, 05:39:18 PM »
Just to throw my £0.02 in; I don't mind how many CS's head West (or East for that matter); every CS that leaves these shores make mine a little bit more valuable :) Plus, as I'm finding out, there's literally thousands of them left, scattered about the place. Which makes their current eBay price range (300-1000 or more) even more difficult to understand.

Maybe you'd have room in the Royal Museum once you return all the pilfered treasures of the world to where they belong.

Hail Britannia!

 ::)

There's an old English expression, which I think was translated from the original Latin, which is apposite in this case.

It reads as follows: "Finders keepers, losers weepers" followed by something that looks a lot like "Ner, ner, ner ner ner"  ???

 ;D

Mike, if I end up with a little lady like that, hell you'd better bring some guns with you....

I find that life without a wife/mistress is MUCH easier to cope with... plus I get to play with whatever Man Toys I like :)

Hi Mike,

As you've probably gleaned, I'm not the religious type myself; it simply doesn't do it for me. My mother insisted I go to church every Sunday (I even learned to ring the bells & sung in the choir - that's how keen she was). It never did anything for me, except made me a bit resentful of all the Sunday mornings I lost when I could have been out on my bike having fun...

But anyway, that's all beside the point. I wanted you to know that my thoughts are with you, and I really hope you get it sorted out, in a positive way - whichever way that ends up being.

And, if I may offer up one piece of advise: Don't force her to be religious, if she doesn't want to be, you'll just cause resentment... I'm sure that if conservatives & liberals can live together, then so can a religious person & an atheist (or agnostic, more likely?).

I hope that didn't sound preachy, it isn't supposed to be. I'm sure that in a few months time, we'll be hoisting drinks & laughing about these days...

Things I want to Buy / Re: Favorite "supporting vender"
« on: February 25, 2011, 11:14:00 AM »
Do we have any venders on here that also suppport the site? Either with cash, or information?
I need some CS parts. Pretty simple stuff. I'd like to support those that support us.
I am looking for a rocker arm grease cup. Some lines, external oil filter. Big question is.. are CS parts compatible with bio? (fuel system stuff?)

There are various vendors who post here, but in all the recent upheaval, I'm certainly not aware of who they are. Andrew (aka T19) might have a better idea...

As for the fuel system & biodiesel; there are no rubber or plastic parts (that I am aware of), so as long as the fuel is pH balanced (not acid), it should be fine.

Engines / Re: Lister CS 6/1 can not reach full load
« on: February 25, 2011, 10:51:52 AM »
today i checked injection timing of my engine and it was 14 CA BTDC.........if i advance i think it will result in serious knocking.......currently my engine run not so smooth and some time knock..........what happened ????

According to the manual, injection should be at around 20 degrees BTDC. The same manual suggests that knocking could be:
a) A sticking exhaust valve being struck by the piston (clean valve stems & guides)
b) A slack bearing (it doesn't suggest which one)
c) Insufficient clearance between piston & head (check bump clearance)
d) Injection too early (doesn't sound like it, in your case)
e) Flywheel loose on shaft... I think you'd know about that one, but worth checking.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Re: dating
« on: February 23, 2011, 09:03:24 PM »
hi everyone, i have a lister cs 61 som how can i date the engine? engine no.7986110  its complete and in need of restoration, which i plan to do. have looked on the net for parts for the generator but cant find much. are parts still available?

The number breaks down as follows:

798 = the number of your engine
6/1 = the type
10 = the year it was built (1950 + 10 = 1960).

Release the ignition key

I tried that - the damn thing skipped across the border, swum the Adriatic and made good its escape into Italy!

It might be useful to post a link to the new location?

There isn't one yet, that's the point.... I'm sure as soon as the pix are back, the location will be revealed.

Personally, I'd suggest the Lister Engine Gallery, as linked in the news box...

Lister Market Place (things for Sale) / Re: 2 Cylinder Air Cooled on EBay
« on: February 18, 2011, 01:06:29 PM »

From the look of the rocker covers, I am going to make a guess that it is a Deutz F2L912D engine or similar. In which case it is a better engine than the ST2 (even though it pains me to say that).

I think you're right (about the Deutz at least); the cover on the LHS is very similar to this one:

I'd not spotted that the cyl heads look round, rather than square. Good spot, that man.

So... it's not a Lister at all, he has no extra info, no more pics, and you can't see it prior to sale? Is that how you spell SCAM?

Can't tell from the picture, it's probably an ST2 though. Cheap enough, good parts availability, most likely an 1800rpm engine, it'll be hellish noisy. Ask the seller if it's got a serial number plate on it, & if so, what the number is, then post back, I'm sure we can decipher it.
