I cant believe there has only been a 20% follow through on the engines.

This whole situation reminds me of the M.A.S.H. episode where Hawkeye wants to have some ribs shipped
From "Adams Ribs" in Chicago over to Korea. Recommended watching before another undertaking like this.

These engines will sell quikly to other people.

Interesting - I'd never thought of machining the head flat in a lathe.  I always thought you used a mill for that  ???

A lathe is the only machine tool that can rebuild itself.

Good news  ;)

Your siggy line says 1935 which is the proper era for a 3hp engine. 1960ish would be a 3.5 hp engine. Good luck with the sale.

Engines / Re: SR1 Hard to start
« on: December 22, 2013, 02:05:49 AM »
I tried a cold start today in preparation for an ice storm this weekend. Engine block was probably -8c. I bumped it off compression a bunch of times to try and build some warmth then pulled it around for 20 or 30 cycles with fuel held off. Wound her up WITH THE EXCESS FUEL SET and off she went, no problems.
