I have just found this item on ebay UK

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271133206558?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

It is either a 10-2 or 12-2 (serial number would confirm either way). For an engine that was stored outside it looks to be in very good condition, with only rusting to the exposed bright metal parts.

The observant will notice it does not have a lower water rail, instead it has separate flanges for the cooling water connections to the two cylinder blocks, it also seems to have an early style fuel filter.

After more careful scrutiny of the pictures, I believe this could be an early 10-2 engine, as it looks to have feeler pins on the injectors, it also has a 1/4 turn isolation valve on the oil pressure gauge, and finally it has an exhaust manifold. All of these features were dispensed with on the 12-2 engine. However if the inlet air silencer is still the original, it has done well to survive all these years.

I am sure this will  be of interest to forum members, though as it is a private listing, it may be wise to tread carefully.

I wont be bidding myself as I already have two 16-2 engines waiting in the restoration queue already  ;D

Original Lister Cs Engines / Lister FR6 on ebay uk
« on: November 23, 2012, 07:39:11 PM »
Here's something for those of you who yearn for something more sophisticated than a Lister CS: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LISTER-FR6-MARINE-ENGINE-AND-GEARBOX-60hp-/140888038033?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_Boat_Engines_EngineParts_SM&hash=item20cd94da91

Looks like it has chrome plating on some of the pipework, for extra wow factor.

Also note how similar the heat exchanger tank looks to be very much like a fuel tank on some of the later single cylinder LD, SL, and LR engines.

Firstly this is a hypothetical question, but none the less an important question for anyone who is considering importing a UK sourced CS startomatic set into the US.

I would like to know if it is possible to convert the operation of a 240 V AC @50 Hz set to operate at  60 Hz @ 110 Volts AC, and if so what would be involved? Preferably with the minimum amount of modifications.

I know that Listers offered these sets with the ability to operate at different voltages and frequency's, but I don't as yet know how this was achieved. Was it by using a different alternator or was it as simple as reconfiguring links in the control box?

Listeroid Engines / New Listeriod seller on ebay uk...........
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:40:42 AM »
This may be of interest to persons in the UK who are considering buying a Listeriod:

If nothing else it creates a greater degree of choice in the UK market place for these products, as the prices seem to quite reasonable for what is being offered.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just saw this rather interesting item that has appeared on ebay UK:

None of those nasty guards to get in your way, and slow down production  ;D

I would be interested to know how long the small end bush lasts for?

Other Slow Speed Diesels / Where can I find Slavia diesel engine spares?
« on: November 16, 2011, 12:52:47 PM »
Being more of a ListerPetter expert this is a bit out of my comfort zone, as I am presently looking for some spare parts for a Slavia diesel engine, the type of engine I need parts for is identical to this item on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77EEldELG-g&NR=1

I would prefer genuine parts, but would also consider pattern parts originating from an Indian source etc.

Not looking for anything out of the ordinary, but parts such as piston rings, bearings, valves , and guides, ie the sort of parts needed to freshen up an engine that the present owner wants to spend minimal cash on.

If anyone could identify the engine model / provide any other details such as HP, bore, stroke, valve clearances etc that would also be useful.

Thanks in anticipation of your assistance

An engine suitable for only the most enthusiastic Lister collector:

Waste Motor Oil / Suggestion for WMO trial......
« on: February 16, 2011, 01:13:57 PM »
Although not using WMO myself, I can understand why it is popular.

I have a suggestion that might be worth consideration for persons using WMO, as follows:

The burning question is how using WMO or blends of WMO increases engine wear, therefore so a comparison can be made to a reference fuel such as diesel oil, I suggest running a twin cylinder Listeriod with one cylinder burning normal diesel oil and the other burning WMO.

Due to the design of these engines having individual injector pumps this would be an easy modification. Further segregation could be extended to the cooling system to investigate how coolant temperature effects cylinder bore wear.

After a set number of running hours a top end inspection could be carried out for comparison of wear rates on critical components between the two cylinders.

One final point, I read alot about filtration, but is anyone using permanent magnets to remove any ferrous contamination from the WMO?

Other Fuels / Lister HR2G engine running on Woodgas......
« on: February 10, 2011, 10:05:42 AM »
Here is a link: http://www.youtube.com/user/ushillbillies#p/a/u/1/VpoA5nYkwCk

Which shows a Lister HR2G (a spark ignition version of the Lister HR2 diesel engine) running on woodgas, produced from a homemade gasifier.

It must work quite well, as they manage to hand start it easily.

The gasifier looks a bit crude, as it incorporates used R134a refrigerant cylinder, car radiator, and other salvaged items, but it obviously works well.

Also found a few of these engines on ebay, pricewise they are a bargain compared to an equivalent twin cylinder CS.

Engines / How to remove Lister CS flywheel keys effortlessly.......
« on: November 21, 2010, 04:51:33 PM »
Having recently acquired a spares donor Lister VA from Spencer 1885, this was just the opportunity I needed to try out my never being out of the box genuine Lister CS flywheel key removing tool.

It took less than 5 minutes to pull each key.

Compared to other flywheel removing tools that are presently being offered elsewhere, this item beats them hands down for speed and ease of use.

Things I want to Buy / Looking for some Lister FR1 parts......
« on: November 05, 2010, 08:49:14 AM »
So as to be able to finish the restoration of a Lister FR1 engine, I am looking for a couple of parts as follows:

1), Side cover frame 291/2176/2 this item is made from sheetmetal and forms part of the cover for the injection pump and pushrods, and is in turn is what the injector pump inspection door forms a seal against.

2), Air filter assembly 291-2457/1C12 (or parts of) this item is common to both the FR1 and FR2 engines.

If anyone had a FR1 engine suitable for parts recovery (frosted, seized up, incomplete, etc) in the UK that would also be of interest to me, and I would take the whole lot. As I now run several FR1 engines, and parts are none too plentiful compared to the CS range.

Thanks in anticipation for any assistance you can offer.
