Thanks guys, Iím not too picky but there is some pitting on the smooth outer surface of my flywheels and I want to fill those.

There's going to be some centrifugal force there.  Whatever you use, clean well and stand clear.  You could have a BB launcher

There is also an approved amount of unleaded gas that can be added to diesel for easier starting and less wax buildup, if you don't have winter fuel there.

The Lister(oid) CS makes a great backup generator.  I may have to do some battery bank charging this coming week of clouds and rain.  I've not run the Lister for battery charging the last few winters thanks to the now 2400W of PV.  It's slower than sunny days but unless very dark I get enough.   

I'm 2 weeks into daily cloudy weather, many days, not even a kwh of solar harvest.  I think I've burned more diesel in the last month, than I have in the last 3 years.  And another week of clouds, and 1 day of partial sun ( maybe )

Batteries that recharge quickly and deplete rapidly, are generally sulphated..

12 GC2 batteries in a 24V config, would give you 24V @ 600ah.    That bank would need 60A to properly charge.  You might get by with 40A, and only using it very lightly.

Wow, that rough.   Polish, measure, set in dirt.

Somebody, in times past, made a crankcase cover door of plexiglass, to observe the activity while running.  instant oil mist was the reported result ( as I recall )  at normal RMM's the dipper slings oil everywhere, up to the piston grudgen pin, cam bearings... everywhere.    I doubt that can happen at slow RPM's and you could have an oil related failure.   
 And without sufficient heat, the piston & head will carbon up

Run some clothes dryer flex duct from the alternator vents to your radiator.  That alternator moves a lot of air !
