By 2010?…relax…by 2010 everything will be Rosie…you won’t have to worry yourself about any of this stuff…your world will be a wonderful place. You’ll be taken care of without a care to be had… You’ll be told what you can breath (smoking laws)….what you can eat (trans- fat laws)…what to think (just plain common sense laws… for the children). Free medical coverage…no one has to pay for…you’ll live the long healthy life you’re owed… the Sheppard will take care of her sheep…Vote  Hillary in 2008.  ;D

Listeroid Engines / Re: EPA Regulations for Stationary Engines

Mike,
I understand your frustration …like my signature line says Nothing Is Easy…However you can’t hold your cards tight forever … eventually you have to show your hand… I don’t know who did what first…I don’t really care…all I want is the latest and greatest I can get for my 6/1 interests… whether it’s a gasket or the next epiphany of the 21st century…what does it matter?

There were two guys a hundred years ago who were solely responsible for stifling…. yes I said ‘stifling’ aircraft development in the United States… because it was their idea and they wanted to keep it that way… it was the Wright Brothers…

There are people in this industry that give their ideas away freely and also sell information and products…as Abbot and Costello said ‘who’s on first’…to me it does not matter it’s the positive atmosphere for development and progress that is fostered…and that is not accomplished by trying to poke someone in the eye…

Like the guy in the cornfield…”build it and they will come “ and if they don’t then maybe it was the wind up before the pitch that wasn’t quite right….

The early bird gets the worm.
The second mouse gets the cheese.
Getting old sucks.
That’s life….. :)

I would look at (measure) the threads you're planning on cleaning up...you may not need a tap/die for everything...I ran a 1 1/2" NPT tap down my exhaust flange... it cleaned out some paint and rust but removed no metal whatsoever....
A wire wheel does a most beautiful job on alot of parts....

Hi Rick,
Welcome aboard. It’s a very very small world we live in…I volunteered to work with you on the Gray's when you pulled it out of Niagara Clearing…and still have the hammerdrills available whenever you need to drill the anchor  bolt holes for your other project at the museum…  “Road Trip to Ohio”

I do wish her the best of luck but…it all rings like a Bob Vila’s  “This Old House” kind of  thing… someone else…actually does all the real work and they are  talking heads walking around the job site wearing a tool belt… … I appreciate those that are DIYers a lot more…I could be wrong…it happened once before…along time ago… :)

mobile bob,
Your reference to a GTX brought back a lot of old fond memories.
My very first car was a 1967 GTX 440 CID…a gazillion HP and gas was 33 cents a gallon…I was 18 years old…and bullet proof…I’m lucky to be alive…you guys understand…. ;)

General Discussion / Re: Flywheels again :)
« on: December 24, 2006, 03:47:42 AM »
This thread has gotten way off the topic of flywheels….but….

In the same previous life…another piece of equipment…a cantilevered roof top hoist….these guys did the same thing as the ones on the fork lift…used themselves as counterweight….one of many problems was they did not have enough fat guys…the hoist acted as a human catapult…tossed them, itself and the load over the edge down ten stories of an apartment building in Toronto…you know who had to explain it all to the families at the Coroner’s Inquest…  I eventually wrote a paper detailing the circumstances and how to prevent it in the future….nothing was ever changed…hence one of the many reasons that is part of a previous life…..
