Amazing what they paint over aint it? Oven cleaner from the dollar store will strip the rest of that paint if you desire. If you cant find Gyptol for a decent price this is what I used. Came from WW Grainger, same stuff, different Mfg.

Used it inside and out dries hard as glass.

No reason to do the import thing yourself and suffer all the cost as a group of folks are allready working to fill a container, you might as well join in the more the merrier. Here is a link to a discussion here. PM Drdeath about it, I think he is the ring leader. Also would add that twins, especialy ready to run are not easy to come by even over ithere. Not wanting to rain on your parade, just preparing you for the facts.

Are you sure it is stuck? On our 24/2 the pump and injector on the left side when viewed from that side of the engine is a pure SOB to bleed out because of the way the feed line comes from other pump and the hump in the middle it was air locked as Listard said. The way we finaly got it bled was to let the engine idle on the one cylinder and unpinned the rack on the left one and held it wide open, still took about 10 minutes for it to pump a few drops and then foth and foam for another 10 before it finaly would fire the injector.

We just picked up a 24/2 'roid that needs all the standard preps and fixes. Also am finishing up a DI 6/2 Metro and 5KW on a cart that will be running a couple peices of equipment at our fall show. Then there a couple tractors in the restoration line, the usual winter mantainance, a R180 Changfa needs a job, etc etc etc, we will stay busy.

I am rather fresh with these engines but it seems like the parts have flat dried up. Not very many months ago there were dealers on Ebay and if you do a search here you will find names mentioned as parts sources from threads that are months old, one up in Canada comes to mind.  but none of the emails work and nobody answers or numbers are disconnected. Carrol Stream has a parts company tha operates  under a different company name I think it is called World Parts. The warehouse is on the same lot as the Stream motors sales office and warehouse in Michigan. I feel like a lucky dog as I got interested in these engines, found out they had been bannned and bought one just before they all dissapeared from Ebay. Sorry I cannot help you with your question about what fits what but I dont think that parts interchangability with the Chinese engines is quite like it is with the Indian CS listers were most every part has a std dimension. I have a 1115 and an R180 and have seen other makes with the same model numbers that were not even close to the same as mine. Good luck

Freight weights are routinely exagerated by the freight companies. There is also some formula they use where as X cubic feet equals X lbs of freight. This is so they dont get caught having to haul a load of very light goods for cheap money, like a load of styrofoam. It could be that the crate was large enough that it became a factor? We have had shippemts stopped at the dock where the P&D guy dropped them off and the frieght Co would call and say you told us X lbs but we are here looking at  X  lbs and need more money to ship. Never had any delivered and then asked for more later. He may be legit in his claim but the way he went about it is all wrong, send him an email back and ask him if he has ever heard of the term "extortion", and further coraspondance will be handed to your lawyer. MY bet is youll never hear from him again. One thing for sure, you dont need to wory about someone showing up and hauling you off to jail in SC over  $400 freight bill.

Guess we will find out together, I just bought one myself from Carrol Stream. They have two versions of the 23HP engine. One is radiator cooled the other is hopper cooled. I got the hopper version and plan to add additional cooling. From what I read about them I am going to pull covers and inspect just as I would  a Listeroid and if I see any thing suspect it is coming down before it gets run.

Gary at D.E.S. posts on here now and then and is very quick about answering Emails and easy to talk to on the phone. I suggest you try contacting him about his engines. There are some videos on U tube or somewhere of one of his being inspected but it would seem tha anything learned about that batch should not be applied to the next batch,, no matter who you buy from.

Well there you go Speed turns out you might not be too far from a dealer!

If you were on the east coast I was going to recommend a fellow in Maine but the freight from there would be lots more than from Kansas.

But beware these engines may be fun to work with but cleaning up a dirty poorly assembled and poorly machined roid can tax a person. You might be biting off more than you think.

In other words I vote with cujet! And suggest you reread his post!

Thanks Billswan. It's the buyer beware part I'm a bit worried about. I'm not worried too much about tearing a roid apart and cleaning casting sand out and such but the part I'm worried about, and to your point, is getting something that is crap to start with. I am after an engine that's serviceable even if it requires some elbow grease to get there. Does anyone know which roid the Diesel Electric guys are selling? I've read that the twins have problems vs the singles  in the past as well so I might just stick with a twin. As I understand it, the only difference between a 6/1 and 8/1 is the speed they run at (hence the two extra horsepower)? Thanks again guys for the responses.

If you want a 16/2 Diesel Electric has one, or did have one a few days ago. They expect to have a new shipment of 8/1s at theKansas location in a couple months, one of which I will own.  ;)
