32, The pile of tools you have beside that block is amazingly similar to what I have out when I do one. After doing one right it isn't hard to see where a lot of the Indian engine wear problems stem from eh?

Changfa Engines / Re: Changfa Kubota radiator delete?

Ya, there is some overkill in the radiator and there may indeed be a better small car type to use? There was a Civic in the parking lot at work and I asked the owner to pop the hood and it looked good enough to me. Pretty scientific eh? LOL.  With a decent load on a hot day the 1115 will put more load on the cooling system than one would think but out in a small breeze the fan never runs.  Since this build I have gone to John Deere LUC power unit radiators and I am certain that under all but the highest loads and hot/still days no fan would be needed at all.

Petteroids / Petteroid runaways, what exactly happens?
« on: April 23, 2012, 04:22:01 PM »
I have a shot at a couple N.O.S Petteroids. Read about everything I could find on the governor problems and never did see where it was posted just what breaks or wears out that causes the run away problems with them? Seems that they are a reasonable engine outside of this?

If eveything underneath is the same as the Chinese clones the plate is dead simple to construct.  The bolts are a bit widely spaced. My first plate was 1/4" and I had a problem with seapage.  #2 was made from 1/2 plate and that not only fixed the leaks but made mounting the inlet and outlets a snap as I could drill and tap for NPT for the nipples and for the sending uinit that controlles the fan.  I have seen no reason to add a thermostat. Mine warms up quickly to about 180 and fan cuts in when it reaches 195.  A drop tube added to the retrun side nipple (closest to the crankshaft) realy helps with the thermosyhon. Mine is only 2" below the plate, works perfectly.
Radiator and sender are 90 Honda Civiic items, purdy cheap brand new at the autoparts places.

Nope his stock for 2012 is sold out, and he had one hundred thousand of each model.

Bob, you may need to take a trip North. Mine had a bracket on it when it was taken down, you could see where it was bolted down but it wasn't in the "pile". Might still be in inventory?

Bob and I  might have to come to terms on this starter deal ???

I happen to own a good factory ring gear and starter but no mounting bracket nor the desire to have electric start to begin with
Bob has the bracket, and the desire but no ring gear or starter :-[

,,,and even if I give up my precous starter parts I will still have the factory radiator and fan set up I could nstall to wow the spectators  at the big show,,,

oopps did I forget to show you those pieces Bob?? ???

 ;D ;D hehehehe  ;D ;D

Ade, Although I came here just after the big fracas of a couple years ago I appreciate the fact that this forum now is largely civil in nature. I have left more than one web group after the chatter became less than it should be.

As for this thread I have my opinion of OSL but I generally don't put things like that out for the world to read unless I have personal experience with the individual.

Locked? maybe, I don't judge to that degree but delete? I will comment. You are indeed correct that anyone in the know probably does not need to read this thread, or maybe not even this forum.  However if we are to consider the betterment of the community as a whole a sticky, not deletion might be a more appropriate action to consider? I don't think that anyone would disagree that caution (to say the least) would be very prudent for anyone who is considering doing business with OSL given the knowns. As one poster here said, "the hits keep coming" on his vids, but then again some of those hits are me  :P entertainment value ya know? ;D

Thanks again for all you do for the site, Nothing to "clear" at this location,

 Butch

I have bought out of Canada when the goods I desired were not available here and had good experiance. ALso bought from Gary several times and had nothing but good dealings with him.  Given the choice I think I would deal on this side of the border and have one less set of eyes on my crates.

comparing to the LaiDong that i had supplied to John F, i have to say the LaiDong is a class above. will keep all updated as i progress.

You got that right! As compared to the rest of my Chinese diesel collection my Laidong from John is like comparing a Dursley built 6/1 to a Listeroid. They are indeed in a class of their own.

Glad to see it wasn't any worse for you! Here in Ohio our weather has been wierd to say the least but not particularly stormy.  Cold rainy like early March on Saturday and Sunday was like July.
