Listeroid Engines / Re: the genset for the day to day Use.

is really nice to listen talking about "frozen", "snow" and the others cold  things, guys, let's be serious, I am Placed in the Dominican Republic, the center of caribbeam, here the heat is as a hell's spa, 85 degrees farenheit in the middle of winter, we only see the ice into the refrigerator wen is opened to take a beer. instead, we celebrate the chrismas parties drinking at the parks with the friends (to drink at the public places is not a problem here, and you can smoke <cigarrettes> at indoor places too). And what to say about our beaches, you can imagine, a beach party just on winter season, we do that, the warm water invite to enjoy (well acompanied) until the midnight.......

come to the caribbean, this is life.

ok, I acept that the exaust fumes as a dryer is some extreme, but I love that delicate small...

I decided to eliminate the pipe, for the moment I will use the muffler as shown.

hi,

ronmar, you are right with the muffler pipe, is really heavy, I will fit a support to grab it with the frame. The engine is really running smooth, the knock may be by the side wall reflection, you know, a resonance efect.

Brialin, the fan is a standard electric car engine fan, was taken from a Dahiatsu 1/2 Ton gas pickup, is 12 volts DC, I used the generator power throw a 300 Watts 120/12 volts AC transformer, after rectified with a full wave diode bridge (the standard square four leg diode bridge). Icontrolled the fan with a timer, 5 minutes after start the engine (to allow warm it up).

PS: what about the two models in the video (the domestics hens)?

hi,

I purchased some spares for my lovson, I had no problems. This people, is my oppinion, have a business based in the reputation, I think that they won't to put it in risk for a few bucks.

good luck.

hi,

you could have a gasket problem, but first answer a question, how many pound-feet of torque do you applied to the head nuts (the correct torque is 120 Lb-Ft. : 5/8" grade 5).
the cold engine's bubbles and reduced when warm up is a possible symptom of loos head (when metals expands seals). pay atention to the head torque.

Listeroid Engines / Re: Thermostat W /Radiator
« on: November 20, 2007, 05:57:40 PM »
hi guys,

the top reservoir water tank is really necessary to keep the thermosyphon cycle, but you can use a modern radiator as the mine is prepared, the radiator cap do not have the pressure seal and the reservoir (see the pictures in my last post) keep filling continuously. when you remove the cap, the water runs out. when the engine is hot the water flows to the reservoir, once the engine cool down, the water returns to the radiator.

Hi guys,

Let me show the thermosyphon/radiator that I use on my listeroid, the radiator is from a daihatsu 660 cc. engine and is fan cooled. The power for the fan is from the same generator, after lower the voltage 120/12 and converting to DC, the fan enter to operation 5 minutes after start the engine, this allow the engine to reach the aperatin temperture.

hi guys,

here you have more viewable pictures, My exortation is to try it, really work fine.

Listeroid Engines / linkage arragement to improve the speed regulation.
« on: November 14, 2007, 02:39:26 PM »
this simple arragement of the spring, can bring a speed improvement like 62Hz (no load) to 59.8Hz full load), before the spring realigment, the speed dropped to 57Hz. The explanation is that with the original spring setup (made for a stationary engine, no necesarely for generation aplication) the spring bends during the travel, when bends the spring loose the proportionality L/K, when L: travel lenght and K: spring proportionality constant.

is working to me, the cost was 50 Cents and a little hobby time.

THIS IDEA WAS TAKEN FROM THE UTTERPOWER.COM PAGE.

Waste Motor Oil / Re: inspection results after a long test using WMO.
« on: October 24, 2007, 03:34:35 PM »
hi guys,

sorry for my absence, I am at the caribbean, more than 85 degrees ferenheit all year. I do not use a fuel pre-heater, the engine start directly on WMO, some minutes, before reach operational temperture, the smoke is some white, not much, after 2 or 3 minutes the engine burn clean, as clean as using diesel. my issue is with the engine contamination and the poor fuel efficency when I use my blend.

here at my country:

1 gallon of diesel is US$3.85 and the eficiency is 12-12.5 KW-H/GAL. then is 30 cents per KW-H.

1 gallon of blend is US$1.82 and the eficiency is 8.5-9.75 KW-H/GAL. then is 19 cents per KW-H.

TO USE THE BLEND IS CHEAPER, BUT THINK IN YOUR ENGINE USEFUL LIFE, IT IS GOING TO BE LIMITED, THE CONTAMINATION AND CARBON DEPOSIT WILL WEAR THE LINER AN PISTON PREMATURELY.

Waste Motor Oil / inspection results after a long test using WMO.
« on: October 22, 2007, 10:49:00 PM »
Hi,

I PERFORMED A TEST USING WASTE MOTOR OIL, THINNED WITH 40% KEROSENE AND FILTERED TO 2 MICRONS. AFTER 500 RUNNING HOURS WE DISASSEMBLED THE ENGINE, THE RESULTS WAS:

1) PISTON TOP WITH A CROASE CARBON DEPOSIT, JUST THE NECESSARY TO TOUCH THE CYLINDER HEAD.
2) PISTON GROOVES CORBONIZED.
3) EXAUST VALVE VERY CARBONIZED.
4) SOME MINOR CYLINDER LINER SCRATCH.

TALKING ABOUT THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE AND FUEL EFICIENCY, WHEN USE DIESEL THE EFICIENCY (WITH A RESISTIVE LOAD OF 80%) IS 12.5 KW-H PER GALLON, WITH THE WASTE ENGINE OIL BLEND ITS DECREASE TO 9.5 KW-H/GAL.

I PERSONALLY, DO NOT RECOMEND THE USAGE OF WASTE ENDINE OIL AS FUEL, IS CHEAP, BUT THE INTERNAL ENGINE CONTAMINATION DO NOT PAY FOR THE COST/PROFIT RATIO.

Listeroid Engines / Re: lovson 8/1 engines without oil pump.
« on: October 11, 2007, 04:22:15 PM »
hi guys,

all your answer are reasonable and logically correct, the oil lever as well said, must be a critical check point in this kind of engine. thanks for take time to reply.

Listeroid Engines / lovson 8/1 engines without oil pump.
« on: October 10, 2007, 03:16:04 AM »
hi people,

have anyone experience with the lovson engines 8/1, this engine comes without oil pump. I am testing the mine since more than 100 operating hours ago, recently I removed the inspection cap (the oil measuring stick side) and all looks to be ok, the crank case is clean and are not signals of wear.

my question is because many other models brands make emphasis in the (gun metal) oil pump, comments and experiences are appreciated. ???

Listeroid Engines / Re: light bulbs flicker solution.
« on: September 21, 2007, 02:11:31 PM »
hi again,

I'll find the regulator part number, I know a guy that distribute to a very reasonable price, this regulators replica, it works fine and are very cheap less than 150.00 and solve the flicking problem forever, let me gather the information and post it.
