Things I want to Buy / fuel tanks
« on: March 29, 2010, 10:02:06 PM »
i am looking for beer kegs for fuel tanks for some gensets. I would like to use 8 gal beer kegs but would use 16 gal.  These things have become almost as hard to find as chickens teeth. I would prefer aluminium. I guess these haven't been used for quite a few years. New kegs are 200 dollars. Liquor stores charge 50 deposit but if you do not send back the word is put out so if I took it to a welder in town i would get to spend a few days free complements of the county probably or pay the 200 dollars. Thanks Mike

General Discussion / hauling
« on: March 10, 2010, 03:52:59 AM »
I will be traveling from Dodge City KS to the corner of New york, Vermont and Canada the first week of June. I will have a fairly heavy trailer which could haul several items. I will be hauling a bull to this area and I will drive straight through to deliver the bull then anything else I might have will deliver last. Trailer will be enclosed with removable sides. I am also working on a trip from Dodge to tip of southern Texas by way of Huston this spring. I will then return the same way. Charge will be just to help pay for gas. I can pick up something before I start this trip that may not be on the way. I can be contacted at 620 339 5671

General Discussion / lister engines from the UK
« on: March 02, 2010, 04:35:26 AM »
I have been visiting with a couple people from the UK and have been watching the eBay UK and see plenty of Lister engines. If I continue to search and get some sort of price of what it would cost to ship some engines would there be any intrest from anyone else in going to gether and getting enough to fill some sort of container. I could pick up the engines and move them to central US to make it easier for people to get them since the container would only be unloaded in one port. I am still in the informational stage. Any assistance in helping me with questions to ask would be helpful.  I do know of a moving company in the UK that would pick up the engines and take them to a central location for shipping. Mike

General Discussion / 3 phase to single phase
« on: January 24, 2010, 08:27:00 PM »
So I see an add on ebay someone selling plans on changing 3 phase to single phase 220 volt. He explains how it is so simple a 4th grader can do it and it work as good as 3 phase. True or false. Thanks, Mike

Things I want to Buy / less than 5 hp lister
« on: January 04, 2010, 04:42:52 AM »
i am still looking for a 3 or 4 hp lister engine for a breast cancer project. Is there no one out there that would part with one or no someone that might sell one? I am on a buget but I know it might be a little expensive to get it. I would prefer it running and be able to run less than 750 rpm's. Thank you, Mike

Listeroid Engines / my first engine
« on: July 16, 2009, 08:30:21 AM »
I am new here so if I have chimed in where I should have not please excuse me. I am about to recieve my first engine. It is A 24/2 which I bought with a 15 K ST head. I am looking for advice on what to expect and also what to look for. I think this engine has only been run a few short hours. It was purchased to replace a generator this person lost during Katrina. He then became unable to crank start it and had to sell it. I hope I have not made a mistake in getting such a large engine the first time. I would love to someday tell the electricty co good by. I would appericate any and all advice from anyone. Please if I have made a mistake getting a bigger engine than I should have atleast be kind telling me. PS I love this forum. I read it while I am at work just to pass the time. I read it at home because I hate TV. Thanks
