Engines / Re: ST1

Thks for the heads-up.

This is a rather unique unit.

It comes with a thick face 4inch width/14inch diameter flywheel. Even the stub output shaft had 6 holes. Both features I had not seen in a ST.

As far as I can tell, the unit is stock standard,

More pixs to come once I get it home.

Engines / ST1

Hi all,
i am in the process of acquiring a ST1 with a rather odd serial number prefix....

MY 64 ST1 81 06

can anyone enlighten me the prefix MY?

i am writing from Malaysia and as far as i know, only the 8/1 and 16/2 were CKD here.

meanwhile, can anyone let me know the dimension of the 4 mounting holes at the base?

your input would be much appreciated. thanks!

Original Lister Cs Engines / Lister 9/1 Flywheel PTO

gents,

i am building a PTO shaft to mount a pulley on my JP1 flywheel end.

the engine is in a rather awkward position for me to take the flywheel mounting dimension.

can anyone help me the 3 bolts PCD dimension and the flywheel step dimension to center the flange. all helps greatly appreciated.

all,

season greetings.

i am writing on behalf for the author.

these 2 engines are now available for sales.

if you are in this part of the world, and you are keen to acquire it, pls pm me.

author has now migrated to a south america country and attempt to import these 2 engines the last few months has proven to be futile and costly.

both are genuine Dursley unit. the spoked light flywheel unit was rebuilt by author with some Indian spares. the startomatic unit is all original except for a mico fuel injector.

Hi Listard JP2,

many thanks. your in depth knowledge in Lister engine is priceless.

i will post a pix once the VA start chugging away.

kind regards,

All other parts (barring the cowling, which make it a VA and not a CS) are the same as a CS.

Not quite  ;)

The crankcase on a VA has a different stud configuration for the cylinder barrel and cylinder head, the VA has 5 x 5/8" BSW studs compared to the 4 x 3/4" BSW studs for the CS

Also the rocker pedestals differ, in that there are two pedestals on a VA, verses one for a CS.

Hi Listard JP2, i am helping a fellow enthusiast to restore his VA.

i have a question. is the injector the same or a different kind comparing to 8/1.

since he stay 300km away, i want to make sure i have the right injector when i pay him a visit.

i spent far too little time with my dad as i grew up. but our common love for these old irons always bring us quality time together. he is 83 and he has a memory of an elephant. he can tell me the torque for various size of bolt, the size, the spec of these engine, all at his finger tips.

2 3/4 inch crankshaft, 3 inch main journal. 4 bolts con rod bottom end. these engines are incredibly oversized and over engineered. every part of the JP is just massive.

Dursley origin replacement parts are left over in the shop from 30 yrs plus ago. i had just bought a set of valves, con rod bearing and top overhaul gasket set. 4 1/2 in std size ring set is not available although oversize is. these are Repco, Australian origin. Bearing is AE, UK origin.

more to come when i start to rebuild the JP.

yes, it was a HR2W. i was sort of tricked by the water pump and the belt guard.

this Ruston 2VTH was done deal

started to work on my JP1. i have no compression. most likely a worn valve. valves was not jammed. the unit is actually in pretty good shape. injection pump was not seized. camshaft lobe look great. gears/bearings are good. will give it a through overhaul together with my dad when time permits. the Withworth socket set and common open ends are Stahlwillie in KingDick tool box. it has work on many Listers and Rustons. i inherited it now.

gents,

saw a few new pm in my inbox.

my apology for not responding.

somehow, after i was booted out by using my dynamic IP, i had sort of resign to the fact the LEF is no more my cup of tea.

but then now that i am on fixed IP, i get log in.

many had asked for parts/engine from China. sorry again folk. i was labelled cheater, rip off burger etc for the good of the hobby so let just say that i would not be selling more engine or parts. one forum member was cheated 3 engines and he thinks it was me although he deal directly with a party in China

if however, for life saving circumstances, i can direct you to link up directly to the manufacturer in China.

guys

enjoy the feast for your sight.

i was literally shivering when i saw these old iron. all stored under cover. owner is a 82 years old gentleman. he confessed has no idea what to do with it!

the JP1 is mine. ready to be fire up this weekend.

the 8/1 is a NOS. no changeover valve. A NOS 8/1 with heavy flywheel...holy cow!(minus the rocker cover) just look at the exhaust port!!!!

the multi are Ruston. 3 cylinders unit from the technical school. 4 cylinder from a RB dragline.

more to come.

Those look like a clone of the Yanmar V-twin . Built in both horizontal but mostly vertical shaft configuration for HP lawn equipment applications.
There is a demand for the horizontal twins. Diesel Motor cycle enthusiasts swap the V twin diesel into bikes that used to have V twin gas engines.

I have a Yanmar L10. I will post some pix for a side by side size comparison. Not being familiar with big bike or American bike frame, it appear challenging squeeze. Particularly the added radiator.

I will leave that to the master craftmanship within us. Interesting you mentioned the Myanmar v twin, is this water cooled too. The Chinese has the L10 in v twin configuration but air cooled.
