That shipping is absurd! Call Central Georgia Generator,, they ship them for about $100.

http://www.centralgagenerator.com/contact.php

Telephone number 478-457-5524

They should be able to direct you to someone who can ship that gen reasonably. I used the shipping quote ebay gave me,, guess it was high.

Sorry to open up a sore subject, but I wanted a glimpse into the future.
Another question for the Brits---a long time ago I was listening to a tape by Dr. Francis Schaefer (recorded about 1973) and he was talking about an organization in Britain called "EXIT"---it was designed to teach old folks to commit suicide. Is this true? If it is, it sounds a bit like eol care (denial of care) in the obama plan.

PS---Chuck Norris (an actor here in the US) found in the health care bill that the gov't. will be visiting homes with small children...

Bill, I know they are calling it 'insurance', but what I've seen and heard is that they are after a single payer system which means that gov't. will pay for all and as a result, will control all.

And here's Barney Frank:

I'm very worried that all other options will be taken off the table and the gov't. option will be the only one. I also find it telling that gov't. officials won't be under this plan that Obama's proposing...

In Canada and GB, are illegal aliens covered under the NHS?

Since we are about to get socialized medicine here in the US, I was wondering if the Brits and the Canadians on the forum could advise us of what we have in store...

Thanks!

Engines / Simple, non-electronic cures for a lazy Lister governor
« on: July 05, 2009, 04:50:31 AM »
Guys,

Got some questions about a lazy Lister governor. I'm running my 1000 rpm 25/2 Ashy at 750 and obviously the gov is a bit lazy. Can I put a longer arm on the link where the spring attaches and use a lower k rate spring? Basically, I want to extend where the spring attaches (more leverage for the spring) and use a weaker, longer spring---the spring will be working through a larger arc.

Also, has anyone heard from Mike Monteith (Listeroids USA)? I wanted to see if he was selling his no-play gov linkage yet.

Thanks!

I thought I was weird for wanting to make an RV out of an old Mack B61---this thing takes the cake!

My boost pump puts out about 20 psi---I'm afraid to leave it on as I think it floods the engine when I set the mix to rich. I try to juggle the primer and the boost pump without flooding the engine. Also, I'm still learning how to start this thing; I flew an AT-6 for a long time with no problems but it has an easy-to-start R1340 with a float type carb. These big engines with their injection carburetors are a bit of a mystery. Last time I had it running it was totally flooded so the result was two HUGE stack fires once it pumped all that fuel out of the engine and exhaust...pretty scary.

I've been told to start it this way:

1. Mix in idle cut off
2. Turn 9 blades
3. Boost pump on
4. Mags on
5. Ignition boost on
6. Tickle the primer until you get happy sounds
7. Run on prime and advance mix slowly to full rich
8. Boost pump off

Like the smoke?? Its the result of multiple start attempts and all that oil collecting in the lower cylinders. I'm still learning how to start this thing....I still don't know how in the hell we won WWII with these things....I guess the German and the Japanese engines were worse! I still love it, though; I did this just so I could hear that sound whenever I wanted...there is no practical use for this device expressed or implied.

I think ALL congressmen/senators/presidents, etc., et. al....must be REQUIRED to have owned/run/operated a business and met a payroll before they can serve in ANY form of government.

I just got through reading the "Growth Stock Outlook" and he ended it by saying, "This government is not your friend." I must be honest, I don't think our best days are ahead, especially with socialized healthcare and cap & tax on the near horizon. Across the pond He may seem like a soft-spoken guy but here His policies must have Marx and Lenin just giddy with delight. Facing all the regulations and taxes on energy that are coming is the primary reason I built my Listeroid generator...I feel that they will at least start rolling blackouts once they figure out that wind and solar are not up to the task, not even by a long shot. Luckily, my wife is Chilean, so I can move to Chile if necessary. The next few years are going to be...interesting.
