Lister Market Place (things for Sale) / NEW Lister ts02 for sale
« on: October 29, 2012, 09:36:32 PM »
This is a new engine BUT -is out of warranty.
I bought it many years ago -and the project did not get done.
that said it is a brand new AIRCOOLED engine- still on the factory pallet
and stored in a dry shed.it has never been started and comes complete
with electric start, exhaust silencer, electric panel and keys-
i want £1200 -which is less than one third of the new price-
delivery to most parts of the UK should be about £100.
also posted on the findafishingboat.com site with a picture.

Lovely old metal , bet your all thrilled up !!

I keep finding myself going out & having a look at something else... just 10 mins ago, I *had* to go check the flywheels were free to rotate... no good reason (I knew they would)...

It's like being a boy all over again ;D

Brilliant buy adev!- well done ,and you too compig- twins eh?-who would have thought it!!
Do either of you  intend to put your engines to any particular "work" ?

just curious- enjoy them both, and make sure you treat them equal.

A really interesting article, the story told over such a long time gives an invaluable
insight into the practicality of a SOM,-and the associated maintenance.
Thanks-

General Discussion / Re: Lifting a CS
« on: February 08, 2009, 11:06:44 PM »
Kinda hard ta feel much sympathy for a guy just got 2 that's right 2 real listers for a grand. Envy yes, sympathy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nah ;D

the first cs i bought cost about £200 -thats the 1953 one with the "standard" flywheels.
that was followed by a 1951 cs with the "heavy" flywheels- this one is a story in its self-!.sufficient to say that i bought it sight unseen
and for £80! (described to me as -in pieces).the seller turned out to be an absolute gentleman and occasionally still telephones to say
that he has "found another piece"!!
the punch line being that its starting to look like a complete engine.
the latest cs -is perhaps what i started off looking for, a complete lister cs startomatic- "not connected up-the electrics that is"- but after minor tuning
it starts beautifully-including today at -1 degrees.!!
this one cost £325 including a spare new injector.
the wee lister D and a parker water pump still lanquish in the corner of the shed.
the latest cs came in the back of my van (on and off by forklift)-
i was all chuffed to move it clear of the shed door on rollers!!
oh -me back hurts.
try not to  let those flea-bay prices determine what we all have to pay

From a CD owner with the destruction manual in front of him (me).(OLIVER90)

Glastry,

Lister made about a million 'D's - well it seems like that.  Cheap and cheerful, 1 1/2 HP or so, spark ignition, hopper cooled, single with many variants.  Common engine for a starter/novice.

I wasn't bitching, just checking that you only missed the 'C'. A lister D would not be worth bothering about with unless it was one of the less common variants.

REPLY-
I am unsure just what you are at.
Having established that i need to be shown the difference between a listerD and a listerCD.
(For which i will be eternally grateful),You now announce that you have a "DESTRUCTION "manual for a CD ?
But then I also remember you seemingly misunderstanding a statement from Compig.(something about you being a STICKLER for good grammar)
So I am going to take your apparent crankyness as just Good natured banter.
AND thank you for your concern.
SUBJECT CLOSED

Torsten,

Are you saying the water leaked into the crankcase?

The cylinder liner should be sealed at the bottom end of the block with a couple of 'O' rings.

If there is another separate hole that is a minor problem, although it should not be like that!

Glastry,
someone who knows the lister D,

Nothing at all like a Lister D.  I hope you just missed the 'C' key....

Regards, RAB
now now,no need to be bitchy, anybody can omit a c now and then,or even emit one!
Just trying to show a bit of support.

The engine weighs around 600 - 700 KG so lifting without a crane or hydraulic lift is risky.

with a hard surface to work from and a bit of planning-(not actual lifting)-it can be
done alright.
a good pallet and a couple of boards to slide it on!
come on guys the fella seems to be stuck-put yer steel  toe caps on,eat a few of them eggs!
you can do it.
i am too far away, but i just hate to see a guy getting let down like that.

two willing bodys should put it on easily?
