Red Stone Engines / Re: Anyone using Redstone now?
« on: September 05, 2017, 11:04:02 PM »
Randybee1;   There is some vibration, but not severe enough to cause a problem. I run the engine about 1400rpm to achieve 1800 rpm/60hz at the generator. When I put a 4800watt on it, the engine smooths out.

I finally got my Redstone up and running. Have had it since 2009. I took it apart, cleaned and checked everything. Put about 2hrs. on it, then stored it. Moved it to my new pole building last week. Made a hardwood skid and mounted it and a 5kw ST head that I also have had since 2003. I plan on getting a 10kw head this winter to hook up to the engine. The engine starts and runs fine.

General Discussion / Valve Guide Orientation
« on: January 03, 2006, 08:24:53 PM »
Hello, does it matter where the oil hole in the bottom part of the valve guide is pointing? Removed my intake guide/ tappet to correct a rotation problem with my Metro 6/1. Didn't pay attention of where this hole was oriented, thanks, Ron

How   Got interested in small diesels from viewing the wealth of info at utterpower.com. Have collected & restored antique gasoline engines for approx. 25 yrs. now. Bought my 6/1 & a 5kw gen. head from George nearly 2 yrs. ago. It's now in a dedicated shed ready to go in the next power outage.

Hello, am new to this forum and find it very informative. Am located in western NY State, between Rochester & Buffalo. Have a 6/1 METEX belted to a 5kw ST head. Have about 150 hrs. on the unit with no problems.
