Lister Based Generators / 6-1 voltage help
« on: May 07, 2019, 03:49:54 AM »
Hi, I have a 6-1 lister and having trouble with my voltage. the voltage is producing 70 volts and not sure what to check or how to adjust the voltage. I took ever wire and connector out and cleaned the connections one by one making sure not to put any thing in the wrong spot and made sure every wire was tight in the control box and is still putting out 70 volts. there is a component in the box that looka like you can adjust it. it a spool of wire about 3 inches long with a band over it with wires attached. not sure if that's the part that need adjusting .i will try to ad pics tks

Hi, The new rectifiers have arrived and I am working out how to fit them to some aluminium channel I plan to use as heatsink.

Old computer CPU heatsinks work well with rectifiers and also if you can get hold of an older Solar inverter, they often have massive heatsinks on the back you can cut down.  They are also good for parts like Caps, mosfets and other bits and pieces that can come in handy.
I have a 6-1 startomatic and is putting out 70 volts, where is this series Rheostat located or picture so I can adjust my voltage if that is the problem and what would be the running voltage. thanks so much.

thanks for the info, this is all new to me. so where will be a good place to start in the control box. what diode to check or capacitor and reading to check or maybe someone may know of something else why I only have 75 volts or maybe someone may have a picture and can mark the component to check, thanks

Looked at the pulley on the 6-1 startomatic generator and there is no metal to take down on the pulley  to make it smaller, to remove the pulley is there a set screw there somewhere or just pull it of and is the outside weight pulley separate from the inside belt pulley so I can match something smaller to get the rpms up on the generator.  the generator is putting out 70 volts and if you turn the engine up the generator is putting out 90 volts and the lights will brighten up. don,t like doing that as I am afraid something may let go in the engine when the engine is cold, there may be something else going on in the control box or generator, maybe someone may have an idea. thanks so much.

thanks for the replys , seems like I may have to change the pulley on the gen set to increase the rpm and didn,t want to have it to high incase the engine throws a rod. All the regular lighting works fine but a bit dimmer  and if I use led lights they blink on and off. Motors seem to run a bit slower. I will have to do some more studying to try and find a fix. How much smaller of a wheel should I use on the gen set . I was thinking on cutting the wheel down on the laith. thanks so much.

I have a 6-1 startomatic and live in Canada, the generator is producing 50 hertz but the appliances here are 60 hertzs, I pluged in my tv and smoked that and is not working any more. Is there anything I can do to change the output from 50 to 60 hertzs.  Thanks.

Original Lister Cs Engines / stratomatic 6-1 oiling
« on: April 08, 2019, 08:33:23 PM »
On the hub before the flywheel on both sides there a screw on top of the hub. Is this for oiling or just oiling on a rebuild. I change the oil regularly but was wondering if I have to add oil to this location and is there any other areas for oiling . I know you have to grease the cam and the bearings on the generator on both sides, Thanks.

ok understanding but how will you hook up the avr. maybe in the out put leaving the generator and would you use an electronic model or an old fashion manual operating model as in a car. and what model is best to use and best way to set up. thanks.
