« on: May 01, 2026, 03:35:26 PM »
Has anyone fitted a smart gen controller to replace the wall mounted control box on a original CS 8/1 50 year old, the points are worn out on my one. I was looking at the smart gen as a replacement.

Any idea's or has any thoughts?

Dose anyone else have photos of your engines? It would be interesting to see and this will help us all with ideas of different types of setups.

Hi,

the system heats my house, garage and workshop.

During the winter it provides all the heating and hot water it runs 16 hours a day auto switching between storage heating and hot water.

28.5 kw storage heaters and 20,000 btu wet radiators from the cooling water none from the exhaust (yet)

The wvo Is settled and filtered Threw 3 barrel settling then threw twin head washable 5 micron filters then passed threw 5 micron 1 micron lastly 0.5 micron then up to storage barrels gravity feed down the the lister

Veggie do you have a similar set up?

Hi all,

I only use the generator to put power to storage heaters, not radios or televisions. is it necessary to replace the radio interference capacitor?

I am back with another problem! Help Please.
It appears that the alternator is overcharging I have rewound the Resistor in the box on top of the alternator. using the hole length of the resistor still doesn't take the volts below 30VDC The amp meter is hard over to the stop about 5 amp but don't know how much more. I don't want to Boil the battery's!
Could it be the rectifier on the end of the alternator? is there any way I can test it. I don't have a wiring diagram for the alternator but I have sent for a lister manual on the BKB 4.5 Kva should be hear in a few days.
