Only sweet water around here guys, but thanks for the tips!

She's up and running again. Still gotta do some small things but I'm pretty happy right now:

So, cover is replaced by a new one. Boat actually stays dry now when it's raining :)

Decided to take away a bit of rust on the underside of the boat and paint the whole outside just to make it look nice and fresh again.

Let a mechanic take a look at the engine. She was smoking more then i wanted last year so I suspected the pistonrings. Two appaered to be broken but it turned out that water came in the (running) engine once.... connecting rod is bent, piston will be replaced and cylinder will be honed. Lets see what we'll find more.

Well, boat is out of the water now. Hosed her down and found out the paint is still in pretty good nick.

The cover is worn though and will be replaced soon.

What a thing of beauty! Great find!

Finally recplace the COV today with another one. Lets see that this one doesn't start to leak. Still have the fixed one with glow plug lying around.
Also put two times new oil in the transmission because water leaked into it. The boatcover isn't in good shape anymore. Got in contact with a few companies that make them but all are too busy in the summer season.
Will have to wait till the end of the year to get a new one made.

Made a new vid today for the fans ;D :

Thanks for all compliments and advice guys! Really helpfull for a newby into Listers like me.

The engine runs great but spits a bit of oil/carbon through the exhaust every now and then. Found a friend of a friend willing to look into the engine soon. Will try to get the COV out again then.

Will make some more vids of it in the near future. :)

Tried to get the CCOV out today. Used the wooden plug methode a couple of times but the sucker woudn't come out... Decided to leave it in for this season and make another effort this winter. Till that time, I have to leave it on high compression.

Shot two vids today:

The previous owner replaced the head a couple of months ago so I hope it will come loose easily.

Thank you guys for the quick and clear anwers!

Gonna try the wooden plug method this weekend. Will shoot a vid of it running and post it here, too.

Anybody who can help me out here? Would really appreciate it! ;D

Well, used the boat quite a lot the last few weeks. What a joy and other boat owners really seem to like it!

Did some work on it as well; put some fresh SAE30 oil in it, replaced the V-belts, checked the water pump and ordered a brass water filter housing.

The COV is leaking quite badly, especially when it's on low compression. I want to replace it by a fixed one which sets the compression ratio at 1:17 (with glow plug) from stationaryengineparts.

Just a question; does the inner part of the original COV have to me removed from the head or can I just screw out the original one and replace it directly?

Wat a beauty! Maybe a short vid of it running? 8)

Here some pics of the transmission (a Dutch Rijsdijk) and prop shaft and other parts of the drive gear:

Questions? Just ask ;)

Thanks for the comments guys!

Vibration is pretty good; yes, she shakes but it doesn't get annoying.

The engine is direct cooled, fresh water. Still have to learn how to manage it though. Maybe a thermostat will make live easier.

Original Lister Cs Engines / Newby: Lister CS boat owner

Let me introduce myself: I'm Gert-Jan, living in the Netherlands and one of my hobbies is small canal boats to cruise on the local river. I started with a small boat with a Farymann engine but pretty soon started to look for a boat with a slow speed engine.
I came across this boat with a Lister CS and was hooked. It took the previous owner some time to get the engine running. He eventually recplaced the cilinder head and fitted new piston rings.
The boat arrived last week and I only used it twice since then so I still have to figure some things out. It's a whole other thing then the small Farymann engine!

I hope to learn a lot here at this forum, sure a lot of questions will come up!
