I spoke with Dan at Central Maine Diesel and he confirmed that the 12/1 is internally balanced and I do not need the weights I got from them. I still will need to balance the fly wheels. Any help on weights for them and how to do that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the info, I think I understand now. This is all new to me. I am learning by trial and error, can't seem to find people who are as knowledgeable as you and willing to share that knowledge I really appreciate all your help. I'm sure I will have more questions as I go on to get this up and running.

Bought fly wheels, starter, brackett, alternator, and weights with new crank. 850.00. Talked with Dan and Bill. Seem to be more into parts than info.

The Electric start kit I got at Central Maine Diesel included weights that are 9.6 lb each. The engine I think should run at 1000 RPM's to produce 8 kilowatts. Does the total of 19.2 lbs seem excessive for balancing? I really appreciate any help I can get as I am trying to learn all I can about this and get it right.

Thanks for the advice. I have different fly wheel to go with an electric start kit. They came with weights. The fly wheels that are on now don't have weights, they have holes drilled in them. Which is best?
