Listeroid Engines / Gib Key Puller

OK guys I managed to get one out but I think the other key was either welded in or has just grown in place. Who makes the best puller?

Generators / Worth Rewinding???
« on: May 07, 2008, 09:59:48 PM »
Ok Guy's IthinkI already know the answer but I am going to ask anyway. I have a RMPS ST 7.5KW gen head that was oversped. Looks like the rotor expanded enough to rub the stator and built enough heat tomelt the insulation between the segments. Wires broken on the rotor also. Since I have no idea how to rewind one and really don't want to learn how I think this one is headed to the scrapyard. Right?

Generators / Looking for ST Head
« on: May 02, 2008, 04:54:38 PM »
I am looking for another ST head 5-7.5 KW. Would even like to get a good "antique" head if the price is good. Also can anyone tell me of any good books on generator diagnostics and repair?

Thanks

Generators / 115 or 220
« on: November 23, 2007, 12:16:21 AM »
What are you guys running your heads at. I had been running at 220, well pump loves it, but all of my oyher loads are 110. Just for grins and giggles tonight I wired the head for 115. BOY WHAT A SUPRISE. No more light flicker, not bad at 220, 2.5hp radial arm saw thinks it is on "real" power. 1/2 hp air compressor starts under load as well as it does on the grid. Thinking of running a sub panel and using the ST for 110 only. Will set up a way of running a jumper to the house from the shop if the power goes out. Is anyone else doing anything like this?

Lister Based Generators / How crazy am I?
« on: July 23, 2006, 01:56:08 AM »
Ok I was sipping a mint julip and thinking today. Both danderous around a Listeroid ;D. I used to own a Polaris ATV and it had a variable pitch belt set up on it. My question is has anyone thought about this set up so that the engine would have the most power with the best economy according to the load at the time?

By the way just kidding about the mint julip.

Listeroid Engines / Cleaning injector

How are you all cleaning your infectors? I do not think they should be cleaned with a wire brush the way I am doing it :-\.
Thanks for your input.

Listeroid Engines / "Intercooler"
« on: June 26, 2006, 12:49:12 AM »
Hey Guys Hope all is well in Listeroid Land. An observation and then a question.

Here in NC for the last week the outside temp has been in the mid to upper 90's. My GM 90 6/1 will pull what we use in the house just fine ;D but has been struggling with the AC some, especially if thr fridge and freezer happen to be running at the same time.
Today outside temps are in the mid 70's and the engine loves having the AC on. Cooler air equals more usable air drawn into the cylinder equals better combustion(if I remember correctly).

OK now for the question. Has anyone thought of building an evaporative cooler for the intake to cool the intake air? Would it work? Would it be worth while? Any suggestions?

Listeroid Engines / Upping the HP on a 6/1
« on: June 17, 2006, 02:16:27 AM »
Has anyone tried changing the flywheels on a 6/1 to eather the 8 or 10 HP wheels and increasing the RPM's. I know we want to keep thes engines running as slow as possible but this looks like an inexpensive way to get more HP. Thanks for any and all replies.
