it has been a year since I have posted.. amazing how time goes by......I check on the forum and found out that I joined 10 years ago...must have been  before we had a lot members,,,,,checked on a few of the old timers and most have been silent for years,Hotater,Doug. guyfaulks etc.I think mobile Bob is still around miss the old times...we sure had some interesting members......during this time, age is slowly catching up with me.....I do not mind that as much as loosing my desire to build engines etc....it is more fun to play with the grand kids...I missed one of my favorite trips this year to Portland Indiana in may. always meet up with 38ac for a day of shopping..sid

General Discussion / Portland Indiana swap meet in may 2015
« on: January 05, 2015, 08:28:21 PM »
looks like the swap meet may be out this year for the first time in over 20 years.......the hotel has changed the rules and want the full amount in advance with out a refund possible.. no ones knows 5 months in advance what will happen,, at almost $200.00 per night for 4 nights I am not will to gamble.. being a small isolated town, there are few choices to make. all involve at least an hour drive both ways each day... plus a 1200 mile drive round trip from home... sometimes you do not get enough beer for your money,,this just may be the perfect example...Also had some minor health problems this year and I might be interested in sell my 8 hp GM and Petter 3 1/2 hp ..sid

General Discussion / denton engine show
« on: July 04, 2012, 02:34:35 AM »
just got back from the denton n.c engine show. had to cut it short because of the passing of an uncle...but was still able to stay 4 days..after 2 days I had a visitor show up..turned out to be mike Montice from n.c// he was one of the first to import the lister clone and i had purchase 4 diesels from him//he was haveing trouble getting in to the show,,, no place to set up/it was full/ we had plenty of room so he was able to use our space, over the next 2 day he was able to sell a few items/ he stopped importing engines a few years back, the regulations were too much trouble..Mike has been recovering from a mild stroke and is making a lot of progress.I wish he stilll was importing engine.. his was were always the best.. I still have one that I got in 1999 and it is a very nice well behaved engine///but the good part was i was able gain a lot of information of the problems of importing engines, overall. a very good time was had by all.sid

may 18 is the start for the engine and tractor swap meet this year...more old engine ,tractor and parts than any other swap meet..but very few listers etc. saw 2 last year and in very poor shape, but it is always different and for me it is worth the trip,, I usually combine it with a stop at the Wright patterson air museum in Dayton Ohio///this late  date, motels will be a little hard to find.. usually you have to go 40-50 mile to find one...if any one shows up. email mail me and we will have lunch//sid
