Lister Based Generators / ST head voltage regulator
« on: December 24, 2006, 11:58:10 AM »
I understand from reading this forum, Jeff M. has made a voltage regulator for the ST head.  After searching this and 'the other' forum I cannot find the schematic.  Can someone tell me where to find Jeff's schematic or any other voltage regulator schematic for a do it yourselfer?

Lister Based Generators / Single phase or three phase?

Can someone tell me how to tell if a generator is single phase or three phase by looking at the insides.  The nameplate is gone.

Listeroid Engines / SPEED CONTROL
« on: April 08, 2006, 01:33:41 AM »
I have a Satyajeet brand 20/1 engine running at 510 R.P.M. coupled to a 15KW ST type generator head.  I would like to have better speed control than I am able to get using the stock governor.  I am thinking about something along these lines:  A sensor to sense the flywheel speed coupled to a computer which would adjust a linear actuator or servo mechanism coupled to the fuel rack.  Does anyone know of a company that has 'plug and play' components that can accomplish this?  Or, has anyone built a system using readily available components that would be kind enough to share with the board?  The system I have outlined seems very complicated to me, if someone knows how to accomplish the same goal with less complexity, please advise.

Best regards,

General Discussion / Cutting tire tread
« on: December 04, 2005, 04:31:45 PM »
Seems to me, a tire tread like found along the interstate highways would make a wonderful vibration damper.  My Lister engine is bolted to I beams which sit directly on a concrete floor.  I would like to cut a truck tire tread into 4 pieces to install under the corners of the Lister frame.  Does anyone have any ideas on what to use to cut the rubber which is impregnated with steel chords?

Listeroid Engines / Lister Engine Forum
« on: December 01, 2005, 11:44:15 AM »
Hello Everyone,
My name is Clifford Myers, I live in Fairfax, Virginia U.S.A. I am very pleased to have found a place to exchange information about these wonderful engines.  Presently, I have a Metro brand 6/1, a Fuking brand 6/1 and a Satyajeet brand 20/1.  My garage got so full of toys that I am building a shed to house them.  The shed should be complete by Christmas 2005.
One of the biggest complaints about the Lister clones is the vibration.  I solved that problem by doing a static balance.  George at Utterpower asked me to write up the proceedure and send it to him.  I don't know if he thought it was useful information or not, it was my hope that he would post the info. on his website so all can benefit by it.  If anyone is interested, I am more than happy to E-mail the information out.  I am not an engineer, the information may be flawed in some way, however it worked for me and I am happy to share.
There is a huge amount of information on the web about these engines and a lot of wonderful and interesting people to meet.  A must read is Hottaters account of living alone and his 'big scare'!  George at utterpower is a very special person full of infomation and willing to help with problems.  Mac McQuaid is a talented machinist, Mike Montieth is a man in my neck of the woods that is a machinist and seller of engines.
If there is anyone in the Fairfax, Virginia area working with these engines and you would like to get together and work on projects, give me a shout.
