Everything else / Propane tank with stuck valve
« on: October 22, 2006, 11:07:24 PM »
While on my travels around the area I came upon a 20 lb propane tank that looked in good shape at the curb for garbage pick up.  I stopped and took a look and it was in good shape and has product in it. What a catch!!  When I got it home and took it out of the car I realized the valve was fully open!javascript:void(0);
Shocked I shook it again and yes indeed it has propane in it.  I shut the valve and opened the valve, nothing.  I shut the valve and opened the valve, still nothing. Dose any one have an idea how to recover the propane, other than bringing the tank to 60 below zero and pouring off the liquid?

Listeroid Engines / 12/2 METRO
« on: July 15, 2006, 02:10:56 PM »
Just found this site, I’ve been a fan of Lister engines for 20 + yrs. Saw my first slow speed genset in Papua New Guinea and vowed I would get one sooner or later. Glad to be a part of the community.
To make a story short at this time I purchased a 12/2 METRO a year and a half a go from in individual in Maine that had 2 for sale. I stumbled upon this offer and acted rather quicly to purchased the engine. Not being fimilure with all the manufactures out there, not having the “Brand Roundup”( Very nice job everybody ) I wound up with the engine sporting two left heads.  Then I found our buddy George warning about the short cuts the Metro people have made.  Well the engine works OK (after a good cleaning inside & out) but I do not think it will run for long under a continues full load as it was originally designed. The coolant piping is cobbed together because it has two of the same heads. Any one have any experance with this?
What I am looking to do is purchase the proper head and a replacement cam (then rebuild it) to get this engine to what it should be.
Dose any one have any suggestions on who manufactured the METRO in 2004 or any company that is selling replacement parts or leads on any one who may know?
