Generators / loud hum under start of load with St5
« on: February 18, 2009, 08:49:57 PM »
I just installed my St5 and am running the same loads I did with that 4kva indian head and I never heard a peep from the indian head, is this normal or a problem?

Generators / What is the toggle switch on the St5 doghouse?
« on: February 18, 2009, 12:09:11 AM »
I am just wondering what the toggle switch on the St5 doghouse is, it doesn't seem to change anything and also the little red light next to it doesn't come on.

I am looking for a replacement filter housing preferably one that will bolt on to the engine like the oem one does but take a better screw on filter, can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am looking for a safe and esy way to wire a small 4 outlet box right at the St5 head, I am planning on powering some heating for the veggie and want to be able to switch it off right at the unit for shutdown. transfer switch and main are approx 75 ft away and I don't want to have to run back from there of at all possible.

I am soon going to be changing from my dead indian 4 kva head to an St5 and wondered if anyone knows if the base bolt patterns are interchangable? I am hoping not to have to change the mounting right now.

i am going to replace the rectifier but would like to try flashing my dead genhead first since the rectifier showed no signs of being bad externally, can someone explain step by step how it's done?

Well it looks like that super high quality indian head may have bite the dust and am hoping for a cheap solution until I can afford an St, what size micro vee pulley will I need and where can I get one to run one of theseĀ

I had recent problems with the indian genhead, first it stopped putting out power on one leg, i traced it to the pictured board and found and repaired a disconnected wire, today same problems again but this time no power, upon removing the cover I found the wires diconnected and at this point I can't tell what goes where, can anyone either tell me where things go or remove and shoot some pics for me, here is the pic of the board.

Engines / how thick to pour concrete foundation
« on: July 03, 2008, 03:25:13 PM »
I am getting ready to move the 6/1 to it's final resting place and would like to know how thick I should pour my concrete foundation, I will be using the J- bolts that came with it to secure it.

I have it properly grounded or so I believe at the head as well as to my main panel through my transfer switch, i am seeing one side putting out 115v and the other will put out 108 I would like to see them closer if possible.

Listeroid Engines / Size of frost plug in 6/1 metro cylinder head?
« on: March 27, 2008, 08:12:07 PM »
i noticed a slight seeping in the cylinder head frost(freeze) plug on one side of the injector, so rather than have problems I need to change it, can anyone tell me what size it is and where to get one?

I just ordered some fattywagon injection line heaters for the fuel line to the injector and am wondering does it need to be thermostatically controlled somehow or can it just run full power? I am very close to setting up my veggie system just wanted some heat preinjector.

Can anyone tell me what the furthest I could have my genset from my transfer switch would be? I have several loacations in mind and the furthest one is approx 75 feet away, will this cause any problems?

I can see that changing the oil will be a messy one and like many others I want to add a ball valve and elbow, can anyone tell me what size the threads on the block are?
