In general when manufacturers release info on thickness of head gaskets for these old lister/petter engines do they quote the crushed thickness or out of the box thickness?
I've just removed the headgaskets from my AC2W engine and the fire ring is measuring 0.80mm, the same gasket has 0.75mm stamped on it?

Ok so she starts easily, tick over seems fine but the tick over can be erratic drop off a few rpm then picking up again. But the real issue starts when you increase the revs and run at higher speed for a while all seems ok but if you return to tick over and either cuts out of struggles to tickover.
The problem seems to get worse generally the longer the engine has been running. Also power at speed seems to drop off to.
I have recently replaced fuel lines and filter But it has had no effect on the problem, I have also noticed some white smoke  from the exhaust and slight seawater leakage down the block from the headgasket, would I be wrong in saying head gasket failure leaking water into the combustion chamber?

Any idea what the Starter Motor Current Draw would be on an AC2W engine, im rewiring and looking at 110amp rated cable

First Post on this forum so if im in the wrong area apologies in advance.
No doubt there are many knowledgeable people on this forum and I'd like to pick your brains.
I recently acquired a boat with a running AC2W engine, no real issues with the engine apart from  being difficult to start (even with 2 x glow plugs, I've been reading these engines do not like cold weather) but my 1st question is the Reset lever on the engine (behind the water pump, low down in the engine) what exactly does this reset and should it be used every start up?
2nd Question, would anyone know the cold cranking current approx of this little 12hp 2cyl diesel? I'm estimating 60-70amps?, im in the process of rewiring the while boat and obviously want to use cables that are up to the job. I do not have access to an amp clamp.
