Engines / LPWS adding a rising oil pressure switch (ROPS)
« on: September 07, 2024, 11:10:26 AM »
I know I could use a T fitting with the existing oil pressure switch but I am hoping that there is somewhere else on my engine's crankcase that would take a second sender/switch.  I want to try using a ROPS to energise my leisure alternator.

Lister Based Generators / Lister LPWS starts once but not again!
« on: October 25, 2023, 04:30:03 PM »
A new problem that I can't get my head around.  When cold it starts immediately and then stops in just a second or two.  After that the engine is completely uninterested.

However I have discovered that if I use full throttle for several minutes and very slowly reduce the revs she will happily settle to a tickover. Once hot she will run and restart happily all day.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Petteroids / LPWS4 Engine Rebuild
« on: July 01, 2023, 09:22:25 PM »
I think I need to have the engine in my narrowboat rebuilt or at least have somebody who knows what they are doing have a look at it.

Is there anybody out there!!  The boat is in a boatyard in Iver, near Heathrow Airport.  The boatyard can crane the engine out if necessary.

Engines / LPWS4 Injector Pump not 'spitting'
« on: November 09, 2022, 05:13:40 PM »
My engine won't start and two of the injector pumps don't appear to be working.  I disconnected the feed to each injector and only two were spitting fuel. What is the most likely problem, what I should do next?

Listeroid Engines / LPWS4 Injector Pump Help
« on: November 07, 2022, 10:28:15 PM »
I'm a diesel novice and my narrowboat engine refuses to start!

I've loosened the high pressure connections to my injectors and only the middle two are 'spitting fuel' when I turnover the engine.  I need to check that the problem pumps are receiving fuel.

What else can I check?

I also measured the temperature of the Glow plugs, three seem to be working.  At the moment I appear to have just one cylinder where both the injector pump and glow plug are working. No idea how to check the injectors.

All suggestions/advice welcome, thanks

Engines / Earthing Solenoid on a LPWS4
« on: October 28, 2022, 11:57:18 PM »
Any idea what it is does?

It's in the handbook circuit diagram. I have a 70A relay wired much the same on my engine.  The earthing stud on the starter is earthed to the engine via the relay. The relay is switched OPEN when the glow plugs are energised.

Thanks
