Changfa Engines / Slow rpm Chang fa?
« on: October 30, 2021, 03:22:54 AM »
I am looking at websites for the Chang fa and related and I only see conflicting info - mostly look at the mfg page.  One part they say 800ish rpm and on another part of the same page they say something like 2,500 rpm.  Is there a Chang fa that is really a slow speed engine?

Listeroid Engines / What factors make it durable?
« on: October 29, 2021, 03:21:15 PM »
I like this forum - like the way you folks think.  Am I in trouble?   ;D

What makes them so durable?  The mass of the block?  Slow speed?  Dual pulleys to even the load?

Listeroid Engines / How much?
« on: August 26, 2021, 09:23:19 AM »
I hear people talk about listers being $2-3K.  I just got a quote from a company in India that showed a 10/1 as about $600.  What is missing here?

Listeroid Engines / Lister clones from China?
« on: August 20, 2021, 02:27:13 PM »
I have read through a lot of posts on this forum and have seen references to lister clones that are made in and sold from China.  I have searched Alibaba and madeinChina.com and could not find anything.  Are they sold through some other medium?

Lister Based Generators / Gen head with inverter?
« on: July 20, 2021, 08:54:40 AM »
I often seen generators advertised as being "inverters generators".  My understanding of that is that the inverter generator puts out a more suitable kind of electricity for computers and electronics.  Is the inverter portion of that similar to what used to be called a line conditioner?  an electric device that would prevent surges and clean up the electricity?

General Discussion / A Pulley On Each Flywheel?
« on: July 19, 2021, 12:40:23 AM »
If I want a lister to power two machines at the same time, is it advisable to put a pulley on each of the flywheels?  Also, what about putting a clutch mechanism in each of the pulleys, so that one machine can be disengaged without fan belt follies?

General Discussion / Utility trailer
« on: July 12, 2021, 11:28:41 AM »
I am really intrigued by the Lister!  I would like to build what many people call a utility trailer or a tool trailer.  It will be a flat trailer with an engine, generator, compressor, water pump, arc welder and a set of relatively high powered lights.  My property is in the high plains desert and beyond what you would simply call "off grid", so this trailer will be used for construction purposes but also for maintenance and survival.  The Lister engines are quite a bit heavier than more modern engines but I like the fuel consumption, the low noise and rpms and the dependability of the Lister.  My questions:
1. Will the lifespan and performance of a Lister be negatively affected by being put on a mobile platform (assuming the trailer is designed for the weight.  I am guessing that the weight of the whole thing - including some hand tools, chains, etc will be about 2,000 pounds).
2.  Do you think it is better to have the lister turn a generator and have each of the other tools powered by electric motors, or have a series of pulleys and belts turn as many of the other tools as possible (direct drive).  I will appreciate your opinions.
