Engines / Lister Sr1 Identification and parts help
« on: May 31, 2020, 02:37:41 PM »
Hi all,

This is my first post on Lister forums so firstly hello, secondly apologies for the long post and hoping I am in the right place.

I am trying to identify what I'm told is a Lister SR1. The only details I can find are a number: 10760SR115, a hp rating of 6.5 and rpm 2000.

This engine was bought by my father to fit in his 23ft narrowboat which I have been refitting for him, the wood work and all inside is complete so we are now turning back towards the engine to get him going.

He had someone attempt to fit this some time back and at best the job was questionable. (it was a freebie done by one of his neighbours)

Having had a quick look myself it looked like he struggled to get the engine in line because it sat very low on the bearers.

I have had a local marine specialist have a look and got some advice.

The specialist has said the install isn't great but could work with some tinkering. Firstly he suggested getting a 2:1 final reduction gearbox on it as it is running 1:1 at the moment I believe. He suggested a python or aqua drive to get the final alignment correct although this could possibly be corrected if the reduction gearbox lifts the height enough to get some clearence. He also said the prop might be a bit big to swing on the 1:1 as it's a 14" three blade. Oh and lastly that the rotation of this engine may be an issue as they don't like running in reverse for long periods although we are not sure which rotation it actually is!

My aim is to identify the engine and gearbox, then price up and get some measurements from a final drive to see if this is viable.

Can anybody help at all with either advice for fitment, parts identity or anything else that might be relevant. Thanks

Will follow up with a couple of pics if I can work out how to upload.
